- The episode's Japanese title is a reference to the series Full Metal Panic.
- The logo for OLM, Inc., the company that animates the Pokémon anime, can be seen on the bottlecap James picks up after discovering his bottlecap collection was eaten.
- When James makes an angry face at the Meltan, his face resembles that of Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia.
