Rudy's Starmie (Japanese: ジギーのスターミー Jigī's Starmie) was one of the Pokémon Rudy chose in his gym battle against Ash.

It was shown to be powerful and fast, two attributes which are typical of Starmie. As with most of Rudy's Pokémon, Stamie was proficient in modern dance, and used it to help avoid attacks thrown at it by Ash's Squirtle. It also demonstarted a powerful Water Gun, being able to beat Squirtle in a standoff. Despite being quick and having Thunderbolt at its disposal, it was ultimately weakened by Squirtle's newly learned Hydro Pump, and finished with a Skull Bash.

Trivia

  • Rudy's Starmie is the first Pokémon to demonstrate that dance can be a method of evasion in a battle. It would later be used again in Flower Power.
  • Misty, the object of Rudy's affection, also owns a Starmie.
  • Rudy's Starmie was the first Water Pokémon in the anime shown to use an Electric attack, in this case, Thunderbolt. Additionally, this is the only instance a Starmie was shown using an Electric move.
