The Royal Unova (Japanese: ロイヤルイッシュ号 Royal Isshu) is a ferry that sails in the Unova region. The ships sets sail every day from Castelia City. It sets sail in the evening, which starts when day begins visually fading into night and ends when it is officially night. It can be traveled on after obtaining the National Pokédex.
Taking a ride on the ship costs $1000. The ship leaves Castelia City and journeys up Unova's eastern river, passing the Skyarrow Bridge as it leaves Castelia City. It then travels up the river to the Marvelous Bridge before turning around and heading back to Castelia City. The boat features a deck allowing the player to view the sites as the ship travels.
The ship also contains various Trainers for the player to battle. The player will be informed of the number of Trainers when boarding the Royal Unova, and will recieve a prize if all are defeated. The prize depends on the day; they include local specialty foods from previous games as well as Rare Candies. However, the player has a limited time to find them before the ship completes its voyage. This time does not pass during the actual battles and is marked by the ship's whistle; when the whistle blows the fifth time, the voyage is over.
Finding the Trainers isn't straightforward, however. The ship contains many cabins, each with a person who may or may not wish to battle that day. In addition, some passengers may regale the player with a long story when talked to, skipping time ahead to the next ship whistle. The player may recieve clues from the ship's staff, however. One staff member will inform the player how many Trainers are on the port side and how many are on the starboard side, while another will reveal how many trainers are behind a specific color of door. (The cabins have two door colors, red and blue.)
The Royal Unova can sometimes be seen passing underneath the Skyarrow Bridge while the player crosses the bridge.
