Fearow's first appearance was the first episode of the anime, where it appeared as a Spearow. It attacked Ash and Pikachu after Ash threw a rock at it. Its second and final appearance was in Pallet Party Panic, where it was shown to have evolved into a Fearow. It battled against Ash's Pidgeotto, who soon evolved into a Pidgeot, Ash attempted to capture the Fearow while riding on Pidgeot's back. Despite its weakened state, he was still unable to capture it, and he left Pidgeot behind to guard against any future attacks. This Fearow was seen in a flashback in Fighting Flyer with Fire.

Ash and ashfr first encountered the Clefairy after their spacecraft crashed near Viridian City in Clefairy Tales. The Clefairy resorted to stealing items, including Jigglypuff's signature microphone marker and Pikachu, from across a nearby town to rebuild their spaceship.
  +
  +
The group, along with Oswald and Jigglypuff, tracked the Clefairy to an underground cave and stormed the spaceship to recover Jigglypuff's microphone and Pikachu. Jigglypuff ended up defeating all of the Clefairy with Pound, but the spacecraft still took off because of its preset launch, though the group and Jigglypuff escaped. Oswald remained on board until the spaceship crashed again in another village. The Clefairy once again stole the locals' items to return to orbit.
  +
  +
The group re-encountered the Clefairy in Wish Upon a Star Shape, after their spacecraft crashed into a Johto mountainside. Prior to the crash-landing, the Clefairy beamed a Cleffa to safety, and it landed on Ash's Phanpy. Cleffa quickly struck up a friendship with Phanpy. It later led everyone to the crash site while also trying to escape TRT and the Pokémon Mystery Club (PMC).
  +
  +
The Clefairy went on to use the parts from Team Rocket's mecha and the PMC's machine to repair their spacecraft. Pikachu's Thunderbolt ultimately helped the craft in lifting off. Cleffa went on to evolve into a Clefairy and reunited with its family once again.
  +
  +
Personality and characteristics
  +
The Clefairy group is a close-knit clan. The group's leader wears a signature daisy flower on its ear. They resort to theft to repair their spacecraft, though the stolen items often prove to be unreliable and cause their spacecraft to crash frequently.

Prior to The Lost Lapras, a young member of the herd had somehow strayed away from its mother and the others, and ended up being stranded on the beaches of Tangelo Island. Ash and ashfr rescued the young Lapras from a trio of unruly boys who were attacking it. Later, Ash promised to help return Lapras to its herd and went on to caught it.
  +
  +
In Viva Las Lapras, Ash and his friends finally located Lapras's school off the coast of Tarroco Island. However, the group wanted nothing to do with Ash's Lapras and they swam away. Later, Ash's group rescued the school from Captain Crook and his crew of Pokémon poachers, and Ash's Lapras subsequently returned to the herd.
  +
  +
Ash and his friends met Naomi, a marine biologist and Lapras expert, near New Bark Town, in Lapras of Luxury. They also re-encountered Ash's Lapras and its herd as they continued their annual migration from the Orange Islands to the Johto region. Ash's Lapras became the leader of the herd after it defeated TRT, who were attempting to snatch the group. The Lapras herd later left to continue their migration.

Personality and characteristics
  +
The Lapras school prefer to live in peace and attempt to avoid direct confrontation. They are incredibly fearful of people, largely because of attacks from keen Pokémon poachers in the past. To those they trust, the Lapras were shown to be incredibly faithful.

Suicune first appeared in Don't Touch That 'dile as a form of energy. When Ash, Misty and Brock were lost in a forest, Misty and Pikachu sensed something and led the trio to a lake. Suicune was standing on a small island in the lake. At first, Ash did not understand what Pokémon it was and wanted to capture it. However, Suicune ran away towards the direction of New Bark Town as soon as Ash made an attempt to battle it. Ash and group chased it to New Bark from where they began their Johto adventure.

Ash and ashfr first encountered Suicune as they were heading towards New Bark Town in Don't Touch That 'dile. Suicune was seen standing on a small island in a lake, appearing as a mysterious silhouette of blue energy. At first, Ash did not understand what Pokémon it was and wanted to caught it. However, Suicune leaped into the fog and vanished as soon as Ash made an attempt to battle it.

Suicune appeared once again in For Ho-Oh the Bells Toll!. After TRT had removed a Crystal Bell from Ecruteak's Tin Tower, many Bug Pokémon invaded the city. They wrapped Jessie, James and MTR in a web by using String Shot and blocked off the entry to the Tin Tower. The bugs even attacked Ash, Misty, Brock, Morty and Eusine when they wanted to go to the Tin Tower. Suicune appeared, calming down the Pokémon and freeing the Rocket trio as well as the city from the webs of the bugs. Eusine wanted to capture Suicune and sent out his Alakazam to battle it. Alakazam used a Disable, but Suicune easily blocked it with a Mirror Coat. It then used Roar to send Alakazam back into its Poké Ball and fled from the area before Eusine could even react.

Todd first spotted Articuno from a distance as it flew across the sky in Moving Pictures, and again in Spring Fever. Its multiple appearances led Todd, Ash, and ashfr to Snowtop Mountain in Freeze Frame.

Lugia first appeared in Around the Whirlpool as a silhouette swimming underwater. Ash and ashfr who were clinging on their Pokémon, as they were being dragged into a whirlpool (after another mishap involving TRT), when it suddenly disappeared, which was followed by Lugia's mysterious silhouette and its strange call.
+
Its presence was likely responsible for the extended cold conditions that affected the south slope and Sunflora Lodge featured in Moving Pictures. This caused all of the wild Sunflora to abandon the area, which nearly spoiled Sophia and Marcello's 50th wedding anniversary photograph with the Sun Pokemon. Luckily, a newly-evolved Sunflora was able to bring back the warmer conditions with Sunny Day and call the other Sunflora out of hiding.

In The Mystery is History, it appeared when Oliver, Ash, and his friends were playing with the child Lugia, Silver. Lugia and Silver played with the group underwater.
+
In Freeze Frame, the group stumbled across Jigglypuff, who was Freeze in ice. After being defrosted, Jigglypuff indicated that it had seen Articuno and pointed to Snowtop Mountain, affirming Todd's beliefs. Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny also knew that an Articuno had been frequenting the area because of a traveler's tale from 1,200 years ago.
  +
  +
Later, Articuno rescued TRT after they were stranded on an ice ledge over a crevasse. Despite helping the trio, Team Rocket became set on capturing the legendary bird after Todd confirmed its identity. During their first attempt, Jessie had Jessie use Mirror Coat to deflect one of Articuno's Ice Beams at it. This caused some icy debris to hit Articuno and send it down a crevasse, which Todd and Ash also fell into, while Pikachu and Jigglypuff followed after them. Articuno eventually overcame its injuries and saved both Ash and Todd from hitting the ground below. Team Rocket later landed nearby and tried to capture Articuno for a second time, but it sent them, along with Jigglypuff, blasting off with a powerful Blizzard.

In A Parent Trapped!, Lugia looked for the child after it was told that it was kidnapped by some members of Team Rocket. Lugia became enraged after finding out what happened until Ash mentioned that the group will find and rescue Silver. When Lugia found Silver in a cage, it went for the cage. Despite the group warning Lugia not to get closer, the parent Lugia was caught alongside its child.
+
As the sun rose, Articuno's blue plumage sparkled in the light. It then stayed still for a moment, allowing Todd to take his photograph, before flying off.

In A Promise is a Promise, Lugia was taken captive to Team Rocket's base. Jessie, James, and MTR attempt to free it until they got interrupted by Butch and Cassidy. Their battle accidentally freed the adult Lugia and it went on a rampage until it reunited with Silver. Although doing so, pieces of the ceiling were falling down and Lugia protected Silver and the group with Safeguard. After escaping from Team Rocket's base, Silver stayed with the adult Lugia with Oliver saying goodbye to them both.

Lugia is very protective of its Silver, as shown when people it hasn't seen before were near it. Following Team Rocket's attack, Lugia and Silver left, with Silver having to separate from Oliver.

Articuno remains a mysterious Pokémon. It will, however, make an appearance to protect traveling Trainers from becoming victims to the harsh cold and crevasses around Snowtop Mountain like it did for TRT, as well as Todd and Ash in Freeze Frame.

Wynaut is a wild Pokémon who followed Ash, ashfr, and TRT around in Blackthorn City. Even though it followed them everywhere, Jessie's Wobbuffet, Ash's Bayleef and Noctowl were the only ones to see it.
+
Wynaut is a wild Pokémon who followed Ash, ashfr, and TRT around Blackthorn City.

Wynaut first appeared in Fangs for Nothin where it was briefly seen taking some food from Team Rocket. Wobbuffet only saw it doing so.
+
Wynaut briefly appeared in Fangs for Nothin during one of Jessie's tirades. It stole a plate of food from TRT. Jessie was the first to notice, but it was blamed for the act.

In Great Bowls of Fire, Wynaut popped its arm out of the bushes while Ash, Misty, Brock, Clair, and Liza returned to the Blackthorn Gym for Ash's Gym battle.
+
In Great Bowls of Fire, Wynaut poked its arm out of the bushes while Ash, ashfr, Clair, and Liza returned to the Blackthorn Gym.

While Charla was about to eat some food in Better Eight Than Never, Liza provided to her, Wynaut quickly snatched the food from Charla, unbeknownst to her.
+
Liza left some food for Charla to enjoy in Better Eight Than Never, but Wynaut quickly snatched the meal without anyone noticing.

In Why? Wynaut!. While Team Rocket were spying on Ash and his friends, Wynaut sneaked over and took their snack, putting the blame on Wobbuffet. Wynaut went for Ash's Badges but Wobbuffet caught Wynaut this time. However, despite doing so, it was unable to tell Team Rocket that Wynaut took the badges. Later, Wynaut met Ash's Bayleef and Noctowl while they were searching for Ash's stolen badges. After finishing the berries Wynaut found, Wynaut went back inside a bush. When Team Rocket attacked Wooper and Bayleef, Wynaut jumped out and countered Jessie's Poison Sting and went back hiding in the bush. After defeating Team Rocket, Wynaut found the Rising Badge that Ash needed and gave it to Bayleef secretly. Wynaut left before Ash found out.
+
Wynaut's only major appearance was in Why? Wynaut!. While Team Rocket was spying on Ash and his friends, Wynaut stole their snack, and Wobbuffet was once again blamed. Later, Team Rocket disguised themselves as reporters and managed to steal Ash's Badges. Wobbuffet went on to take the loot into the nearby forest while it waited for Jessie and James's return. Wynaut reappeared and went for the box containing the Badges, thinking it was food, but it was ambushed by Wobbuffet. Jessie, James and MTR soon found Wobbuffet, causing it to lose track of Wynaut.

Personality and characteristics
+
Despite Wobbuffet's best efforts, its teammates went on the hunt for the Badges and soon chased after a wild Wooper. Clair and Ash's group were also on the hunt for the Badges, and soon enough, Ash's Bayleef and Noctowl located Wynaut and Ash's Badges. Soon, Wooper, followed by Team Rocket, entered the scene and a battle ensued over the Badges. Wynaut jumped out, countered Jessie's Poison Sting, and went back to hiding in the scrubs. Ash arrived on the scene to find Team Rocket with his Badges in hand. They were sent blasting off and Ash's Badges were scattered into the air. Ash managed to recover seven of them, while Wynaut handed Bayleef and Noctowl the eighth Badge. Bayleef and Noctowl identify Wynaut as the one who recovered the eighth Badge, but Wynaut sailed away on a log barge before Ash could see it.
Wynaut had a tendency to pop up out of nowhere at random moments, especially in its final appearance Why? Wynaut! when it popped out of nowhere and took the case containing Ash's badges (which Team Rocket had stolen from him) away from Jessie who was guarding the case while its teammates were away. Wobbuffet was very confused and startled to see Wynaut, and panicked even more once Wynaut took the case away just as its teammates came back.

Later on in the episode after the case got open and the badges went all over the place, Ash and his friends as well as Noctowl and Bayleef searched everywhere for the badges. At first they found seven of them, and then Noctowl and Bayleef set out to find the one they had missed, and that's when they saw Wynaut who gave the badge to them, and then Bayleef called to Ash and gave him back his badge and he thanked her and asked her if it had just been lying on the ground. Bayleef tried to explain to her trainer about Wynaut, but it was already gone, causing both Bayleef and Noctowl to become confused, so Wynaut has a tendency to appear out of nowhere when a Pokémon is nearby and then disappear when people come around, showing that there's a possibility Wynaut either doesn't want to be seen by humans, or just likes playing a little joke leaving those who did see it very confused.
+
Personality and characteristics
  +
Wynaut was a mischievous Pokemon, with a tendency to appear out of nowhere whenever a Pokémon was nearby and then disappear whenever people were around. It was an opportunistic thief driven by its appetite for food. Its small stature and extendable arms allow it to make a clean getaway. It targets people and Pokemon whenever they are distracted.

Spoink first appeared in Pearls are a Spoink's Best Friend. It had lost its pearl, and Ash and ashfr were trying to find it. As it turns out, TRT had found it and had traded it to the Magikarp salesman for a List of Pokémon temporarily owned by the Team Rocket trio. After learning this, the travelers confronted the salesman and demanded he give back the pearl. Team Rocket also demanded he give them the pearl back as well. In the ensuing battle, Spoink's pearl was returned and Team Rocket was sent blasting off.

Ash and ashfr first encountered Spoink without its pearl while having breakfast in Pearls are a Spoink's Best Friend. After scanning his Pokédex, Ash learned that Spoink become tired without their pearls, so he and his friends agreed to help find its pearl. Team Rocket was blasted off with the pearl, and they later traded it to the Magikarp salesman for a rare Feebas. After learning this, Ash and his friends confronted the salesman, and Team Rocket also demanded that the pearl be returned to them after they realized their Feebas was actually a List of Pokémon temporarily owned by the Team Rocket trio. In the midst of the squabble, Spoink was reunited with its pearl and sent Team Rocket blasting off with several powerful Psychic attacks.

In Clamperl of Wisdom, Ash and his friends were sailing to Maisie Island when they spotted Spoink out at sea. A rogue wave knocked Spoink into the ocean, but the group was able use a life preserver ring to save it. While it was bouncing around on deck, Spoink tripped and lost its pearl out at sea. Despite the efforts of Torkoal and the group's Water Pokémon, they were unable to recover the pearl.

It made its second, and final, appearance in Clamperl of Wisdom. Like the previous time, it had lost its pearl. This time, it was lost in the ocean without any way of retrieving it. But the travelers learned from a scientist named Isaiah that Spoink's pearls come from Clamperl. Eventually, they found a Clamperl who was willing to give its pearl to Spoink. They said goodbye to Spoink, and it hasn't been seen since that episode.

The group later met Isaiah, a researcher who specializes in Clamperl. Team Rocket attempted to steal Isaiah's rare blue pearl, but Spoink ended up with the item. Spoink went on to befriend a wild Clamperl and exchanged the blue pearl for Clamperl's pink pearl. Ash, his friends, and Spoink went on to defeat Team Rocket after they stole Clamperl and the blue pearl. Spoink then started to meditate and was able to recover Isaiah's blue pearl in exchange for its pink pearl. However, the kind act left Spoink without a pearl. Realizing the situation, Clamperl gave Spoink the pink pearl as thanks.

Kyogre first appeared in Gaining Groudon, where it was sleeping in a containment room aboard Team Magma's ship. Maxie explained that Team Magma had captured Kyogre in order to ruin Team Aqua's plans of expanding the ocean. However, Team Aqua had Groudon in their possession, so the two organizations agreed to trade the two super-ancient Legendary Pokémon on Monsu Island. Simultaneously, a counter-operation saw Team Aqua's Shelly infiltrate Team Magma's ship in disguise as a Team Magma Grunt, allowing her to free Kyogre. After being freed, Kyogre escaped Team Magma's ship and leaped into the ocean. Archie used the Red Orb to control Kyogre and ordered it to destroy Team Magma's ship with Hyper Beam. It was later seen sleeping in a containment chamber onboard Team Aqua's submarine. Kyogre once again escaped after TRT failed to catch it with their electrified net.

In The Scuffle of Legends, Kyogre was out in the ocean near Monsu Island where its appearance caused a Drizzle and strong winds. Using the Red Orb, Archie took control of Kyogre where he had it attack Lance's Dragonite which Dragonite narrowly dodged the attack and then fought Gyarados. After Groudon appeared which nullified the weather, Kyogre fought Groudon. Because of the interference with May's Beautifly and Brock's Mudkip, Kyogre was defeated by Groudon's Solar Beam which separated the orbs from Archie and Pikachu. Despite Archie being saved by Dragonite, Pikachu fell in the ocean and Kyogre, released from the Red Orb, swam underwater to rescue both Ash and Pikachu. Kyogre resurfaced with the two and both the Blue and Red Orbs went in the sky. With that done, Kyogre returned deep in the ocean.

Later, Solana investigated a cave as it was the source of recent geomagnetic disturbances, but Ash and ashfr ended up tagging along. In Pokémon Ranger - Deoxys' Crisis! (Part 2), Deoxys continued telling Max its story. After Ash and the others returned to the cave, Deoxys came out of its world. Everyone evacuated the cave as the meteorite was overloading with energy while Deoxys went back in its dimension. Solana theorized that Deoxys emerged from the meteorite, its cradle, after solar winds hit the space rock. The resulting electromagnetic forces caused Deoxys pain, so it fled to its own world. Deoxys emerged from the portal with Max and Meowth still inside. The group battled Deoxys in an attempt for Solana to capture it, and this also allowed Meowth and Max to escape the alternate dimension. Sceptile battled Deoxys in order to get it to change into Normal Forme, and managed to do so. However, it was also captured by J and Team Galactic, but before that happened, it used Future Sight with Mesprit, destroying J's ship later on. It was then controlled by the team to help fulfill its goal. In The Battle Finale of Legend!, after breaking from their control with the help of Brock's Croagunk and Ash's Gliscor, it helped in stopping Cyrus's plot to use Dialga and Palkia.

Uxie also appeared in PK21 with Azelf and Mesprit, serving Pikachu and his friends some apples.

Malamar first appeared in A Conspiracy to Conquer!. Unlike most wild Pokémon, this Malamar is an independently evil being who conspires to change the face of the world. It hypnotized an Officer Jenny who went to investigate at a radio observatory. As a result, she became Madame X. Together, the two went to a dark cave where TRT were and hypnotized them, save for MTR, who quickly slashed up his own face with Fury Swipes. With Team Rocket in tow, Malamar found the whereabouts of Ash and ashfr by a tree. It took Pikachu with them and forced him to be under their control.

By the time Ash, his friends, and Meowth arrived in the observation chamber of the radio observatory, Malamar cruelly took control of Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena. The Automatic Pikachu Retrieving Device that Clemont built earlier entered the observatory and crashed into Malamar, breaking its control over everyone it hypnotized. Officer Jenny went back to normal and explained what happened. Malamar revealed that it tricked them into believing that Madame X was a real person and it was using her as its pawn. Malamar also revealed that Madame X's goal of taking over the world was a lie and hopes to reconstruct the world using a mind control machine. Angered at Malamar's lies and dishonesty, Ash, Officer Jenny, and the gang went after Malamar who led them to a room containing the system of great significance. Since everyone saw what Malamar was doing, it destroyed the weapon that it was building and fled.

Malamar reappeared in Facing the Grand Design! where it had recruited two other Malamar in a plan to distort the world using energy crystals. Malamar and the other two hypnotized the top scientists in Kalos to build the energy crystals. Afterwards, they stole three delivery trucks and recklessly drove them with the crystals to the Grace Tower to get their plan in action. When Team Rocket went to the top of Grace Tower, the Malamar trio spotted them after James became furious at the one particular Malamar for what it did to them previously. Malamar was unable to find the Team Rocket trio after they fled.

Malamar discovered the trio along with Ash, his friends, and the Officer Jenny who it had hypnotized before. The three of them caught Ash, his friends (with the exception of Clemont), Jessie, and Officer Jenny by keeping them frozen in the air through Psychic, leaving Clemont, Meowth, James and Inkay to save the day. Malamar and the other two were defeated after being subdued by James's Inkay, a group of good Malamar and other wild Inkay who James and Clemont had brought to help, their crystals were deactivated by Officer Jenny's Manectric. Despite their defeat and Officer Jenny pointing it out, all of the crystals combined into one and the evil Malamar went in them as a method of escape, allowing all three of them to avoid capture and thus destroying any evidence of their plan. Before they left, they claimed they were heading into the future but swore they would return to fight once more and their plan would succeed someday.

Personality and characteristics
Unlike most Pokémon, Malamar is a cruel and evil Pokémon with a mysterious dark past. Though there have been many mischievous, manipulative and misunderstood Pokémon in the series, the wild Malamar are unique for being one of the only to seek world dominion without any known human influence. Malamar had no trouble with its plans for world domination as it hypnotized people and Pokémon to do its bidding. However, Trainers with a strong bond with their Pokémon such as Ash with Pikachu and James with James are able to break free of Malamar's hypnotic control, or by pain as seen in Meowth's case, snapping out of it by Fury Swipes himself - or others such as Ash - repeatedly in the face. The three evil Malamar are shown to be psychopaths for they showed no signs of remorse, guilt, or redemption after their plans were stopped by Ash and his friends. They're also shown to be very merciless when their leader brainwashed several Pokémon, Ash's friends, Team Rocket, Pikachu and Officer Jenny and forced them to attack Ash and Meowth without any decency or mercy. They even lack a sense of honor and morality as shown when they refused to accept defeat or learn from their previous mistakes.

Tapu Koko first appeared in Alola to New Adventure!, in which it dropped a couple of Sitrus Berries on a wild Bewear, which ended up chasing after Ash and his Pikachu. Ash saw it later in the episode, but he wasn't sure what it was, until he described it to Professor Kukui and his classmates, and they told him what the Pokémon he saw was. Near the end of the episode, Ash heard some cries, which led to him meeting Tapu Koko in person. It gave Ash a Z-Ring, equipped with an Electrium Z.

In the following episode, Tapu Koko came across Ash and his classmates as they were enjoying lunch, and it stole Ash's hat. It flew off to a nearby forest, where it waited for Ash to battle it. After a couple of attacks, Tapu Koko came up to Ash and activated his Electrium-Z, leading Ash to command his Pikachu to use his first Z-Move, Gigavolt Havoc on Tapu Koko. Despite the attack creating a big explosion, Tapu Koko protected itself with its armor and did not receive any damage. After that, Tapu Koko flew off, ending its battle with Ash.

Tapu Koko reappeared in To Top a Totem!, in which Hala informed Ash about the Tapu Koko that he met earlier. Later in the episode, it watched Ash's battle against a Yungoos, a Gumshoos and a Totem Gumshoos in Verdant Cavern.

In the following episode, Tapu Koko stole the Fightinium Z which Hala was about to give Ash for defeating him in the island challenge, and replaced it with an Electrium-Z, much to Ash and Hala's surprise.

Tapu Koko reappeared in A Guardian Rematch!, in which it had a rematch against Pikachu and was able to withstand Gigavolt Havoc. The match ended with no clear winner after Pikachu fell off a cliff, which Tapu Koko helped to save Ash and Pikachu from.

Tapu Koko reappeared in A Dream Encounter!, in which it and the other guardian deities sensed the birth of a Cosmog nicknamed Nebby. The next day, it led Ash to Nebby, then flew away.

It next appeared in the Poké Problem segment of SM050<!-- Japan-exclusive segment, do not add the dub title here -->, where it sensed Nebby's evolution from Cosmog into Cosmoem. In the following episode, it appeared at Poni Island together with the other guardian deities.

In Revealing the Stuff of Legend!, Tapu Koko and the other guardian deities revealed that they were the ones who took Nebby to Melemele Island, where Ash would eventually find and take care of it. At the Altar of the Sunne, the four guardian deities performed a ritual that allowed Nebby to evolve into Solgaleo. When Ash received a Solganium Z from Nebby, he found that it was unable to fit in his regular Z-Ring. Tapu Koko then took the Z-Ring, and through a dance, it and the other guardian deities upgraded the Z-Ring into a Z-Power Ring so Ash could properly use Solgaleo's Z-Move, Searing Sunraze Smash. The four then dispersed after seeing Nebby carry Ash and his friends through the Ultra Wormhole.

Tapu Koko made several appearances in Rise and Shine, Starship!. First, it witnessed Celesteela's discovery by Sophocles, and later watched it fly off towards the moon.

Tapu Koko reappeared in Twirling with a Bang!, watching as the Ultra Guardians helped send Blacephalon and Xurkitree home.

Tapu Koko reappeared in SM088, where it helped defend Lunala against Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime. It later watched as Hala saw the sunrise during the Manalo Festival.

In SM090, Tapu Koko attacked the Matori Matrix's aircraft in order to prevent them from going through an Ultra Wormhole to chase after Necrozma. Later, it, its fellow guardian deities, and the rest of Alola helped Necrozma regain its List of Pokémon with form differences by giving it some of their Z-Power.

Personality and characteristics
Tapu Koko appears to be a serious Pokémon, but despite this character trait, it didn't seem to mind Pikachu playing with its arm in Revealing the Stuff of Legend!. Tapu Koko is shown to be very interested in Ash and is often seen observing him. It has shown a strong desire to challenge Ash and test his skills, even stealing Ash's hat in order for him to follow and battle it. Tapu Koko also appears to have great faith in Ash, entrusting him a Z-Ring and an Electrium Z as well as leaving Nebby in his care. Tapu Koko also appears to not tolerate impulsive behavior from other people. For example, when Gladion arrogantly yelled at the guardian deities out of impatience, it gave him an angry stare, telling him to wait. It has shown to take an interest in the Ultra Guardian's work at helping Ultra Beasts as seen in Rise and Shine, Starship! and Twirling with a Bang!.

Tapu Lele also stayed to watch as Rockruff subsequently evolved into a List of Pokémon with form differences Lycanroc in the light of the setting sun, smiling happily as it the floated away afterwards.

Tapu Lele was seen briefly in A Dream Encounter!, where it and the other Guardian deities had sensed the birth of a Cosmog nicknamed Nebby. In Family Determination!, it appeared at Poni Island together with the other guardian deities.

In Revealing the Stuff of Legend!, Tapu Lele and the other guardian deities revealed that they were the ones who took Nebby to Melemele Island, where Ash would eventually find and take care of it.

Tapu Lele reappeared in SM088, where it watched Olivia as she observed the sunrise during the Manalo Festival.

In SM090, Tapu Lele, its fellow guardian deities, and the rest of Alola helped Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime regain its List of Pokémon with form differences by giving it some of their Z-Power.

Personality and characteristics
As a guardian deity, Tapu Lele seems to be a kind and caring Pokémon, willingly using its scales to heal humans and Pokémon, such as Ash and a wild Yungoos, even if it doesn't know them. It also greatly enjoys battling other Pokémon that catch its interest, but its cruel sense of innocence is shown when it seemingly fails to realize that its attacks seriously hurt opponents much weaker than itself. This was demonstrated in Rising from the Ruins!, where it challenged Ash's Rockruff and defeated it easily, acting gleefully happy the whole time.

It made its first solo appearance in Some Kind of Laziness!, where Ash and Acerola visited it at the Ruins of Abundance. Ash requested that Tapu Bulu help train his team so that he may face the Island Kahuna Nanu in a rematch. While it initially ignored Ash so it could continue sleeping, Tapu Bulu eventually agreed to help. By planting seeds and growing them into trees, Tapu Bulu helped Ash's Rowlet learn Razor Leaf. Later, it deliberately dirtied Ash's Lycanroc's fur by pushing it into the water, angering Lycanroc into its berserk state until Ash calmed it down. After seeing the bond Ash and Lycanroc shared, Tapu Bulu agreed to battle with them. Though the battle ended without a victor, Tapu Bulu was impressed when Lycanroc proved to be a powerful opponent with its newly-learned Stone Edge.

Tapu Bulu reappeared in Guiding an Awakening!, where it watched Ash's battle against Nanu and dropped two Sitrus Berries for Lycanroc to consume.

Personality and characteristics
It appears to be more serious and subdued, compared to the more expressive Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini. In Some Kind of Laziness!, Tapu Bulu was shown to be a fairly lazy Pokémon due to the fact that it constantly like to sleep on a rock in the Ruins of Abundance. Despite this, once it saw how determined Ash was to help his Lycanroc, Tapu Bulu battled the Wolf Pokémon with everything it had. Tapu Bulu was also shown to be very happy for Lycanroc when it got over its aversion to having its fur become wet or dirty.

Tapu Bulu has been shown as being kind to Pokémon, as evident in Guiding an Awakening!, when it dropped some Sitrus Berries for Lycanroc to consume during its battle against Nanu following Lycanroc's defeat of Sableye.

The Pikipek first appeared in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, taking fruit from the citizens of Hau'oli City. The people of Melemele Island allow the group of Pikipek to take their fruit so that people and Pokémon can live in harmony. The next day, the Pikipek and Trumbeak invaded Bewear's den and took the berries. Later, back at their nest, the group was attacked by TRT who were trying to get Bewear's berries back. Even though having been banished from the group earlier, Rowlet saved them. They thanked it and then watched as Rowlet left the group to join Ash.

The Rowlet would grow up alongside the Pikipek but would never be fully accepted by them, Trumbeak, and Toucannon.

Trumbeak first appeared in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, leading the Pikipek in taking fruit from the citizens of Hau'oli City. The people of Melemele Island allow the group of Pikipek to take their fruit so that people and Pokémon can live in harmony. After taking the fruit back to their nest, it was discovered that Rowlet had accidentally brought a wind chime instead of fruit. Trumbeak scolded Rowlet for this and banished it from the group.

The next day, Trumbeak led the Pikipek out once to more to get more food and invaded Bewear's den and took all the berries. Returning to the nest, Trumbeak congratulated Rowlet who had returned with a melon before the group was attacked by TRT who were trying to get Bewear's berries back. ====Personality and characteristics====

Trumbeak has been shown to be rather stern, but caring all the same. It scolded Rowlet when it failed to bring food back to the nest and became annoyed at Rowlet when it fell asleep as it was telling Rowlet off, but was thankful when Rowlet helped save them from Team Rocket. Stoutland was a friend of a Litten that wandered around Melemele Island. It was an elderly Pokémon that Litten looked out for, by giving it food, and keeping it company. Ash intended to catch Litten but he gave up when he discovered the Pokémon giving food and company to Stoutland.

Stoutland reappeared in They Might Not Be Giants!, where it and Litten moved under a canal bridge. It encountered Ash's Rowlet and Lana's Popplio when the two had become separated from their Trainers, and instructed a reluctant Litten to guide them back.

Stoutland reappeared once again in One Journey Ends, Another Begins..., visibly worse in condition and coughing constantly. It had attempted to teach Litten Fire Fang by demonstrating it, but Litten ended up hurting itself when it attempted to bite a rock. Stoutland later collapsed, and Litten ran off to get Ash's help, who proceeded to carry it to a Pokémon Center. Stoutland was taken into the center's emergency room and hooked up to an electrocardiogram as it was attended to by the center's Nurse Joy and her Nurse Joy and Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy came out to the waiting room to inform Ash that Stoutland was not ill or injured, and Litten rushed through the open door to check on Stoutland while the two humans agreed that they knew what was going to happen.

Stoutland later left the Pokémon Center and returned to its home under the bridge with Litten, unsuccessfully attempting to teach it Fire Fang again and falling asleep during Litten's turn. After curling up into Stoutland afterwards, Litten awoke in fear after a dream where it was unable to keep up with Stoutland and discovered it had disappeared. Stoutland's disappearance and Litten's unsuccessful search for it coincided with a heavy rainstorm. After being found by Ash, Litten chased a tree's last leaf when it was blown away by the wind after the rain stopped. It then discovered a cloud formation shaped like Stoutland smiling down upon it.
+
A group of Exeggutor can be found on Treasure Island. They first appeared in Partner Promises!, when Ash and Pikachu visited the island. They allowed Ash and Pikachu to play with them before leaving. They reappeared when Pikachu requested their assistance in helping free a trapped Wimpod.

Stoutland briefly reappeared in Treasure Hunt, Akala Style! during a flashback.

They reappeared in Alola, Alola!, when Ash and Pikachu visited Treasure Island alongside ashcl and Misty.

Personality and characteristics
Stoutland was shown to having a caring side where it got Litten to help return Ash's Rowlet and Lana's Popplio to its Trainers, despite Litten's reluctance. Stoutland is shown to be kind and helpful as shown in One Journey Ends, Another Begins... where before it disappeared, it was helping to teach Litten how to use Fire Fang.

The Exeggutor are shown as being playful, as seen when they allowed Ash, ashcl, Misty, and their Pokémon to join them in their games. They are happy to allow people to climb on their heads or backs and then tip them into the water. At least one Exeggutor is shown to be ticklish, as seen in Alola, Alola!, when Misty ticked its foot whilst underwater.

In addition to being playful, the Exeggutor are shown to be kind and helpful, as seen in Partner Promises!. At Pikachu's request, they helped to lift Ash up, allowing him to free a trapped Wimpod.

Stufful first appeared in A Dream Encounter!, in a video on Professor Kukui's television. It was one of the Pokémon included in a presentation on Professor Burnet as the fifteenth recipient of the "Alola Woman on the Year" award and her workplace, the Aether Paradise. It appeared again when Ash and ashcl visited the Aether Paradise in Deceiving Appearances!.

During a plot by TRT to steal the Pokémon who live at Aether Paradise in SM096, Stufful met and became attached to Jessie. When Bewear came to pick up Team Rocket, Bewear recognized Stufful as its child and took them all back to its den. While doing so, it allowed Stufful to spin a helicopter blade that would allow them to fly.

In Spying for the Guy!, Matori arrived in Alola to bring Bewear back to Kanto. However, she decided to take Stufful instead. Team Rocket, having realized this, disguised Meowth as Stufful, and Matori took the bait. Bewear eventually rescued Meowth.

Stufful was shown to be a carefree Pokémon, constantly walking throughout the conservation area of Aether Paradise. It is also a very affectionate Pokémon, as shown in SM096, where it grew attached to Jessie by grabbing on to the back of her hair.

  +
Since its reunion with Bewear, Stufful has assisted her in her rescues of Team Rocket, like in Don't Ignore the Small Stufful!, where it spun a helicopter propeller; and in Heart of Fire! Heart of Stone!, where it alerted the trio to Bewear's arrival. Like its mother, Stufful is capable to perform incredible feats of strength. In addition to the helicopter incident, it has been shown running through several walls of steel in the Poké Problem segment of SM124, destroying the mecha Team Rocket had planned on fixing in the process. Stufful's tendency to show up has caused the trio to panic, as seen in SM128, when Team Rocket spotted a Stufful and mistook it for Bewear's child, causing them to fear they were on their way.
  +
  +
Much like its mother, Stufful enjoys hot springs. This was seen in SM128, when Team Rocket built it and Bewear one so that they can enter the Manalo Conference without them showing up whilst competing. Stufful also enjoys putting on a display whilst in the hot spring, as seen in SM131, where it and her mother performed for a crowd that had gathered.

In Faba's Revenge!, Faba created an Ultra Wormhole using Nebby's power. After appearing in the Aether Foundation basement laboratories, Nihilego promptly knocked out Faba before reaching out for Lillie. However, she was protected by Lusamine, who was captured instead and then taken through the Wormhole. After attaching itself to Lusamine, it started playing on her desires and reduced her mentality to that of a child's.
+
The Melemele Greens are a group of Passimian who live in a forested area close to Iki Town. One nicknamed Tiny is the current leader of the Melemele Greens.

As such, when Gladion, Ash, and ashcl came to save her in Rescuing the Unwilling!, she instead ran away, releasing her Pokémon enhanced by Nihilego's power as a deterrent. Nihilego also used various other means to deter the children, but in the end was cornered by Ash, Lillie, and Gladion. When Lillie managed to get through to Lusamine, Nihilego interfered, trying to keep Lusamine to itself. In the end, Ash managed to defeat it using 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt in 10,000,000 Reasons to Fight!, allowing Lusamine to separate from it.
+
The Melemele Greens debuted in the banned episode SM064. The Red Buns clan from Akala Island, led by one nicknamed Claw, had arrived on Melemele Island and asserted leadership of the Melemele Greens after taking possession of their special fruit. The Melemele Greens felt helpless under Claw's ruthless reign and simply complied. Ash decided to dress up like a Passimian, which bolstered the confidence of Tiny and the other Melemele Greens. Tiny went on to challenge Claw for leadership of the Melemele Greens, and competed alongside Ash in a Berry-tossing game on the beach. The Red Buns dominated much of the match due to their larger size, though the game encouraged the other Melemele Greens to revolt and outnumber Claw and its allies to reclaim their territory and freedom. Tiny and the other Melemele Greens eventually regained control, and later took Ash back to their nest to celebrate the victory.

A Nihilego made an appearance in the past, where it attacked Lillie, and was then in turn attacked by Silvally. However, it is uncertain if it is the same one.
+
They reappeared in A Recipe for Success!<!--(which also serves as their English dub debut)-->, where they were among the Pokémon who visited Oranguru's Café and had their meal served by Mallow and Oranguru.

Personality and characteristics
Nihilego has been shown to be a very hostile Pokémon, attacking anyone on sight and even kidnapping Lusamine. According to Gladion, Nihilego might have an interest in humans, which is why it fused itself with Lusamine, in an attempt to learn more about them.
+
The Melemele Greens are a sociable group of Passimian that enjoy keeping to themselves. Unlike the brutish Red Buns, the Melemele Greens do not engage in territorial squabbles. Tiny and the others developed their confidence and learned to defend themselves after Ash's interventions in SM064.

Naganadel debuted in The Shape of Love to Come! in Ash's Poipole's dream. After being healed, Naganadel telepathically told everyone how Necrozma lost its light saving the world from a meteor, causing everything to become a dark and barren wasteland. Afterwards, the Ultra Guardians decided to help restore Naganadel's world by sharing their Z-Power with Necrozma in order to turn it back to its former self.

In SM090, Naganadel helped Necrozma regain its List of Pokémon with form differences by giving it some of its Z-Power. Once successful, Necrozma turned back into Ultra Necrozma and restored Naganadel's home world to its former glory. As the Ultra Guardians prepared to leave, Naganadel informed Ash that Poipole wished to stay behind and protect its home, much to Ash's sadness.

All of the Meltan reappeared in Show Me the Metal!, where they caused havoc on Melemele Island. While investigating the sewers, the Meltan were divided into two groups. One group ended up at the Ultra Guardians base and ate some machinery before being stopped by Lusamine's Clefable. Afterwards, they ended up at the Pokémon School, where they were discovered by Ash, his classmates, and Professor Kukui. Unable to recognize what the Meltan were, the group determined they were a new species and decided to study what they work on and how they worked. During the experiments, Kiawe's Marowak accidentally scared the Meltan off with the flames on its bone, forcing Ash and the others to search for them. Meanwhile, the other group of Meltan ended up at Bewear's den, where they ate most of James's bottle cap collection, infuriating him. TRT chased the runaway Hex Nut Pokémon into some nearby woods and attempted to capture them. The Meltan retaliated with a combined Flash Cannon, only for Bewear to block the attack and scare the Meltan away.

While Ash and the others searched, a single Meltan stayed behind, where it met Ash's Rowlet. After Rowlet helped rescue its hex nut from a wild Murkrow, the Meltan took a liking to Rowlet. Afterwards, the Meltan group at the Pokémon School called the other group to their position, reuniting them all except for the Meltan bonded with Rowlet. It instead chose to follow Rowlet back home by hitching a ride in Ash's backpack.

In Got Meltan?, Ash caught the Meltan that befriended Rowlet. The other Meltan were tamed by Clefable, who started using scrap metal to feed them as a reward for following instructions. In SM124, the Meltan appeared helping the Ultra Guardians again. They were also revealed to have started multiplying, doubling the total number. In SM126, the Meltan were shown to have multiplied even further, bringing the total number to 60.

+
In the Poké Problem segment for SM133, the Meltan left the Ultra Guardians base after overhearing Ash's Meltan contacting them from Manalo Stadium.
Lunala reappeared in SM088, where Necrozma continued to chase it around Melemele Island. Despite the best efforts of Tapu Koko, Necrozma was able to merge with Lunala, becoming List of Pokémon with form differences. Lunala was later freed when Nebby appeared and forced Necrozma to separate from it. Lunala was subsequently taken to the Ultra Guardians base below the Pokémon School to be healed. Later, Lunala was able to recover itself by using the energy emitted from Ash, Kiawe, Lana, and Gladion's Z-Rings.

In SM089, Lunala turned into its List of Pokémon with form differences and traveled through an Ultra Wormhole with the Ultra Guardians, whereupon they arrived at Poipole's home world. While the Ultra Guardians stayed back to assist Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime at Poipole's home, Lunala went ahead to face Necrozma. Later, Lunala was defeated by Necrozma, but was rescued by Gladion's Silvally.

In SM090, Lunala helped Necrozma by giving it some of its Z-Power. The attempt was successful in getting Necrozma to let go of Nebby, but it also angered Necrozma into attacking everyone again. After giving Gladion a Lunalium Z, Lunala and Gladion performed Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom while Ash and Nebby used Searing Sunraze Smash. The combined Z-Moves successfully gave Necrozma enough light to regain its true form and restore Poipole's home world back to normal. Afterward, it, Nebby, and the Ultra Guardians went back to Alola.

Necrozma first appeared in SM087, where it chased after Nebby and Lunala in an Ultra Wormhole. They emerged out of the Ultra Wormhole at the Altar of the Sunne, appearing before Ash, ashcl, Gladion, Lusamine, Wicke, Faba, and Professor Burnet.

Shaymin first appeared in Memories in the Mist!, where it encountered Mallow after being drawn to her strong feelings of gratitude towards her late mother. Mallow then decided to take it in until the time came for it to turn into its List of Pokémon with form differences and fly away.

It reappeared in SM088, where, despite the best efforts of Tapu Koko and the Ultra Guardians, it was able to merge with Lunala and form List of Pokémon with form differences. In this state, a special unit from Team Rocket attempted to catch it, but it was able to break through the net easily. Nebby then appeared and attacked Necrozma with Sunsteel Strike, forcing it to separate from Lunala. However, Necrozma then merged with Nebby to form Dusk Mane Necrozma, and left through another Ultra Wormhole.
+
Despite being a wild Pokémon, Shaymin was used by Mallow in the Battle Royal preliminary round of the Manalo Conference in SM129. It defeated a Staryu, Herdier, and Corsola with Sandy's help. Shaymin was later among the 16 Pokémon still standing at the end, allowing Mallow to progress to the next round.

In SM089, the Ultra Guardians and Lunala followed Necrozma through an Ultra Wormhole and arrived at Poipole's home world. While Lunala went ahead to face Necrozma again, the Ultra Guardians stayed behind with Naganadel and were told of how Necrozma lost its light saving the world from a meteor. Afterwards, the Ultra Guardians found Lunala in the process of being defeated by Necrozma and rescued it. Intent on freeing Nebby and restoring Poipole's home world, Ash, Kiawe, Lana, and Gladion fired simultaneous Z-Moves at Necrozma, hoping that their Z-Power would restore Necrozma to its true self as the Blinding One.

Personality and characteristics
  +

  +
During its time with Mallow and Mallow, Shaymin has grown close to them. This was seen in Drawn with the Wind!, when her headband was blown away in the wind, Shaymin chased after it to retrieve it. Shaymin is a compassionate Pokémon, being naturally drawn to feelings of thankfulness. It appears to be meek and adverse to fighting, as seen in Drawn with the Wind!, where it cowered behind Sandy and Ash's Meltan when confronted by TRT. At the same time, its compassion leads it to risk itself in order to help others, as seen in the beginning of the episode, where it shoved Sandy out of the way of oncoming traffic, and later, when it cured Sandy of poison. Mallow surmises this might be in part due to Tsareena's influence.

In SM090, Necrozma absorbed the Z-Moves, but that wasn't enough to get it to let go of Nebby. However, with the combined Z-Power of the Ultra Guardians and their allies back in Alola, Necrozma was filled with enough light to release Nebby from its grasp. Despite their success, Necrozma was only angered by the attempt and attacked everyone so it could absorb Nebby once again. With the Z-Crystals they received from Nebby and Lunala, Ash and Gladion performed Searing Sunraze Smash and Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom, respectively. The two Z-Moves fully restored Necrozma back to its original self, Ultra Necrozma. Necrozma then used its power to restore Poipole's home world back to its previous state. Afterwards, Necrozma appeared in Alola before dissipating into light.
+
It has a playful personality; in A Grand Debut!, it and Snowy ran to the sea and then back whenever waves would come in. Due to its playfulness, despite only meeting Mallow the previous day, Shaymin seems to be a fairly outgoing and extroverted Pokémon.

In the anime, the Aether Foundation, assuming that Necrozma is an Ultra Beast, gives it the codename (Japanese: UB:BLACK UB: Black).
+
In its Land Forme, Shaymin is not very agile, often needing assistance from Sandy to climb objects such as barrels or boxes.

Personality and characteristics
+
Moves used
Necrozma was shown to be a highly aggressive Pokémon. It had a strong desire to absorb the light emitted by Lunala, determinedly chasing it all the way to Alola. It also took out anything that stood in its way, such as Nebby when it fought to protect Lunala. According to a legend regarding Necrozma, it was once a benevolent Pokémon that gave light to the Alola region along with the other members of the Light trio.

Magearna was a Pokémon that Mohn found and purchased at an antique store. He then stored it away in his room and planned on reviving it so it could play with Lillie, but he was never able to before his disappearance. It reappeared in SM124 and SM127, where it remained inactive.

Eevee first appeared in Eevee, Where Are You Going? of the Eevee, Where Are You Going? shorts. It was exploring in the streets of a town, only to run foul of a Houndour when it stole its food. It managed to escape Houndour, and after seeing the ocean, it set sail on a boat. It reappeared in Eevee, Where Are You Going? of the segment, where it fell off the boat. However, it was rescued by a Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime, which took Eevee on its back so it could bring it to the shore.
+
Celebi first appeared in SM125. It was relaxing in a forest when it came across Ash, who was training with his Pokémon for the Manalo Conference. The battle disrupted Celebi and prompted it to start time traveling. Ash and Torracat were accidentally caught up in its act and were subsequently sent to the past, where they encountered a young Professor Kukui. Celebi later flew past them and noticed an aura radiating from Ash and Torracat. Realizing they came from the future, it took them back to their proper time period, where it was photographed by Rotom Pokédex. Celebi briefly reappeared in the next episode.

In the Eevee, Where Are You Going? of the segment, Eevee and Mantine decided to try Mantine Surfing on a nearby wave. While it initially kept getting knocked off whenever Mantine did a flip, Eevee eventually learned how to time its jumps with Mantine's flips, allowing it to stay on Mantine's back. At the end of the Eevee, Where Are You Going? of the segment, Eevee arrived at Melemele Island of the Alola region, where it said its farewells to Mantine and proceeded to explore the island. It first chased after a Wimpod before eating some Berries.

Personality and characteristics
Personality and characteristics
Eevee was shown to be adventurous and gluttonous, which often got it into trouble, such as when it ate a Houndour's food without permission, angering the Houndour into chasing it off. Eevee is also shown to enjoy having fun, such as when it enjoyed falling into the ocean after falling off Mantine when it was Mantine Surfing. However, it was shown to be easily scared as well, such as when it ran from a Houndour and later when it found itself lost at sea.

Wingull is a kind Pokémon, as seen in SM131, when Rowlet, a Pokémon it didn't know, asked it to bring its foster family to the Manalo Stadium, which it did without hesitation. Much like Pikachu, Wingull is capable of imitating other Pokémon, as seen in SM132, where it used its imitation skills to tell Toucannon's flock what was going on.

Several wild Pokémon had a recurring role in the Pokémon anime.

Contents

Original series

Fearow

Fearow
Main article: Ash's Fearow

Fearow debuted as a Spearow in the first episode of the anime. It attacked Ash and Pikachu after Ash threw a rock at it. Its second and final appearance was in Pallet Party Panic, where it was shown to have evolved into a Fearow. It battled against Ash's Pidgeotto, who soon evolved into a Pidgeot. Ash attempted to capture the Fearow while riding on Pidgeot's back. Despite its weakened state, he was still unable to capture it, and he left Pidgeot behind to guard against any future attacks. This Fearow was seen in a flashback in Fighting Flyer with Fire.

Ho-Oh

Ho-Oh
Main article: Ho-Oh (anime)

Ho-Oh is the second recurring wild Pokémon in the anime, making three appearances.

After Ash and Pikachu were exhausted from fighting a flock of Spearow, Ash saw a glimpse of Ho-Oh flying over a rainbow. The Pokédex couldn't record the data of Ho-Oh, as it was unknown at the time. Since then, it would often fly around.

Haunter

Haunter
Main article: Sabrina's Haunter

Haunter first appeared in The Tower of Terror. After Ash befriended it, he attempted to use it to battle Sabrina, but Haunter decided to goof off. At the end of Haunter Versus Kadabra, Haunter decided to stay with Sabrina.

Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff
Main article: Jigglypuff (anime)

The fourth recurring wild Pokémon in the anime, and the one that made the most appearances, is Jigglypuff.

Jigglypuff's first appearance was in The Song of Jigglypuff. At first it couldn't sing, but that changed once Brock gave it a piece of fruit which soothed its throat. Jigglypuff followed the gang throughout their journey until the Advanced Generation series, and returned after a long absence in the Sun & Moon series.

Jigglypuff is perhaps best known, however, for its running gag. Whenever it saw that its song put its listeners to sleep, it would inflate angrily, making a distinctive "honk" sound, then doodle over the faces of its audience with its marker.

Clefairy

Ash and his friends first encountered the Clefairy after their spacecraft crashed near Viridian City in Clefairy Tales. The Clefairy resorted to stealing items, including Jigglypuff's signature microphone marker and Pikachu, from across a nearby town to rebuild their spaceship.

It later led everyone to the crash site while also trying to escape Team Rocket and the Pokémon Mystery Club (PMC).

The Clefairy went on to use the parts from Team Rocket's mecha and the PMC's machine to repair their spacecraft. Pikachu's Thunderbolt ultimately helped the craft in lifting off. Cleffa went on to evolve into a Clefairy and reunited with its family once again.

Personality and characteristics

The Clefairy group is a close-knit clan. The group's leader wears a signature daisy flower on its ear. They resort to theft to repair their spacecraft, though the stolen items often prove to be unreliable and cause their spacecraft to crash frequently.

Slowking

Slowking
Main article: Slowking (M02)

This talking Slowking lived on Shamouti Island, and was the guardian of the shrine located there. He gave Ash advice on where to find the Ice Sphere. He later praised the Team Rocket trio, upset that no one saw them being heroes, telling them that their heroic actions did not go unnoticed.

Slowking reappeared in Slowking's Day.

As Lapras Unknown Unknown

Prior to The Lost Lapras, a young member of the herd had somehow strayed away from its mother and the others, and ended up being stranded on the beaches of Tangelo Island. Ash and his friends rescued the young Lapras from a trio of unruly boys who were attacking it. Later, Ash promised to help return Lapras to its herd and went on to catch it.

Ash and his friends met Naomi, a marine biologist and Lapras expert, near New Bark Town, in Lapras of Luxury. They also re-encountered Ash's Lapras and its herd as they continued their annual migration from the Orange Islands to the Johto region. Ash's Lapras became the leader of the herd after it defeated Team Rocket, who were attempting to snatch the group. The Lapras herd later left to continue their migration.

Personality and characteristics

The Lapras school prefer to live in peace and attempt to avoid direct confrontation. They are incredibly fearful of people, largely because of attacks from keen Pokémon poachers in the past. To those they trust, the Lapras were shown to be incredibly faithful.

Ash and his friends first encountered Suicune as they were heading towards New Bark Town in Don't Touch That 'dile. Suicune was seen standing on a small island in a lake, appearing as a mysterious silhouette of blue energy. At first, Ash did not understand what Pokémon it was and wanted to catch it. However, Suicune leaped into the fog and vanished as soon as Ash made an attempt to battle it.

Suicune appeared once again in For Ho-Oh the Bells Toll!. After Team Rocket had removed the Crystal Bells from Ecruteak's Tin Tower, many Bug-type Pokémon invaded the city. They wrapped Jessie, James and Meowth in a String Shot and blocked off the entry to the Tin Tower. Suicune appeared in a mystical blue light and calmed the wild Pokémon down. Seeing the Legendary Pokémon, Jessie had Arbok launch a Poison Sting, but Suicune evaded the attack and sent Team Rocket blasting off with an Aurora Beam.

Eusine wanted to catch Suicune and sent out his Alakazam to battle it. Alakazam used Disable, but Suicune easily blocked it with a Mirror Coat. It then used Roar to send Alakazam back into its Poké Ball and fled from the area before Eusine could even react. The brief encounter led Eusine to pursue Suicune, in the hopes of seeing it again one day.

Personality and characteristics

Suicune was a calm Pokémon. It avoids direct confrontation and responds swiftly to anyone with immoral intentions. Suicune's few appearances and sudden disappearances maintain its mysterious nature and keeps it enshrouded in folklore.

Main article: Pichu Brothers

The Pichu Brothers were first introduced in Pikachu & Pichu, where they met Ash's Pikachu. Pikachu was lost after falling off a nearby building, in which Ash was planning a party celebrating the anniversary of when he and Pikachu first met. Pikachu and the Pichu Brothers went all throughout the town chased by a Houndour who eventually helped them when the local Pokémon Playhouse was collapsing.

They also have a number of friends living in Big Town that regularly take part in their adventures. They have all made appearances in various side story episodes, as well as a cameo at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior, and the gang have also received their own game for the Pokémon mini, Pichu Bros. mini.

Todd first spotted Articuno from a distance as it flew across the sky in Moving Pictures, and again in Spring Fever. Its multiple appearances led Todd, Ash, and his friends to Snowtop Mountain in Freeze Frame.

In Freeze Frame, the group stumbled across Jigglypuff, who was frozen in ice.

Later, Articuno rescued Team Rocket after they were stranded on an ice ledge over a crevasse. Despite helping the trio, Team Rocket became set on capturing the legendary bird after Todd confirmed its identity. During their first attempt, Jessie had Wobbuffet use Mirror Coat to deflect one of Articuno's Ice Beams at it.

As the sun rose, Articuno's blue plumage sparkled in the light. It then stayed still for a moment, allowing Todd to take his photograph, before flying off.

Personality and characteristics

Articuno remains a mysterious Pokémon. It will, however, make an appearance to protect traveling Trainers from becoming victims to the harsh cold and crevasses around Snowtop Mountain like it did for Team Rocket, as well as Todd and Ash in Freeze Frame.

Wynaut is a wild Pokémon who followed Ash, his friends, and Team Rocket around Blackthorn City.

Wynaut briefly appeared in Fangs for Nothin' during one of Jessie's tirades. It stole a plate of food from Team Rocket. Wobbuffet was the first to notice, but it was blamed for the act.

In Great Bowls of Fire, Wynaut poked its arm out of the bushes while Ash, his friends, Clair, and Liza returned to the Blackthorn Gym.

Liza left some food for Charla to enjoy in Better Eight Than Never, but Wynaut quickly snatched the meal without anyone noticing.

Jessie, James and Meowth soon found Wobbuffet, causing it to lose track of Wynaut.

Wynaut jumped out, countered Arbok's Poison Sting, and went back to hiding in the scrubs.

Personality and characteristics

Wynaut was a mischievous Pokemon, with a tendency to appear out of nowhere whenever a Pokémon was nearby and then disappear whenever people were around. It was an opportunistic thief driven by its appetite for food. Its small stature and extendable arms allow it to make a clean getaway. It targets people and Pokemon whenever they are distracted.

In the next episode, Jessie accidentally stepped on Loudred as it was sleeping. Loudred then sent her, James, and Meowth flying with an extremely loud Screech attack.

In Turning Over a Nuzleaf, Ash's Corphish pinched Loudred's ear, which made the wild Pokémon go berserk. In its rage, Loudred caused Silcoon to roll out of May's arms and down into a cave system. The group's other Pokémon followed after Silcoon, but ended up becoming separated from their Trainers. Later, Wobbuffet emerged from its Poké Ball and stood on Loudred as it slept. It subsequently woke up and promptly sent Team Rocket flying.

Professor Birch became startled by an angry Wingull while looking at its nest and fell directly on Loudred in A Three Team Scheme!. Loudred angrily screeched at him before leaving underground.

It reappeared in a flashback in Exploud and Clear!.

Ash and his friends first encountered Spoink without its pearl while having breakfast in Pearls are a Spoink's Best Friend. After scanning his Pokédex, Ash learned that Spoink become tired without their pearls, so he and his friends agreed to help find its pearl. The group soon recovered the pearl, but Spoink lost it again after a confrontation with Team Rocket.

Team Rocket was blasted off with the pearl, and they later traded it to the Magikarp salesman for a rare Feebas. After learning this, Ash and his friends confronted the salesman, and Team Rocket also demanded that the pearl be returned to them after they realized their Feebas was actually a Magikarp. In the midst of the squabble, Spoink was reunited with its pearl and sent Team Rocket blasting off with several powerful Psychic-type attacks.

Despite the efforts of Torkoal and the group's Water-type Pokémon, they were unable to recover the pearl.

Personality and characteristics

Spoink is deeply attached to its pearl, and quickly becomes frantic and weak without it. Out of desperation, Spoink has a habit of using Psychic to place any round objects on its head in an attempt to replace the pearl. After a while, even not-so-round objects are placed on its head, including an angry Electrode, much to the dismay of those around it.

In The Scuffle of Legends, Pikachu, who had become possessed by the Blue Orb, awakened Groudon. It subsequently broke out of the chamber and destroyed Team Aqua's ship. Groudon then nullified Kyogre's Drizzle with its Drought, caused Monsu Island's volcano to erupt, and stopped Kyogre's tsunami waves with its powerful Solar Beam. It was able to get the upper hand and defeat Kyogre in battle due to Brock and May's interference. Eventually, the Blue and Red Orbs left the bodies of Pikachu and Archie, respectively, and de-materialized. Afterwards, Groudon returned to Monsu Island's volcano to rest.

Kyogre once again escaped after Team Rocket failed to catch it with their electrified net.

In The Scuffle of Legends, Kyogre was swimming off the coast of Monsu Island, where its presence caused a heavy downpour and strong winds. Using the Red Orb, Archie took control of Kyogre again and had it attack Lance's Dragonite before fighting Lance's Gyarados. After Groudon appeared, which nullified the weather, Kyogre fought Groudon. May's Beautifly and Brock's Mudkip distracted Archie and Kyogre was then defeated by Groudon's Solar Beam. The two orbs separated from Archie and Pikachu, so Kyogre was no longer filled with rage. Despite Archie being saved by Dragonite, Ash and Pikachu fell into the ocean, but both were rescued by Kyogre. Meanwhile, both the Blue and Red Orbs went into the sky and disappeared. Afterwards, Kyogre returned to the depths of the ocean.

Personality and characteristics

Kyogre's personality is unknown as it was only seen under the control of Archie. However, it was shown to be immensely powerful, causing large storms and tsunami waves that almost destroyed Monsu Island. It returned to being a peaceful giant and saved Ash and Pikachu from drowning.

Deoxys first appeared in Pokémon Ranger - Deoxys' Crisis! (Part 1), where it emerged from a portal in the sky. As Max saw Deoxys, he experienced a vision of space as soon as it went back into a portal.

Later, Solana investigated a cave as it was the source of recent geomagnetic disturbances, but Ash and his friends ended up tagging along. At the end of the cave, Deoxys emerged from a portal above a meteorite that, according to Nurse Joy, fell ten years ago. Deoxys attacked Ash, his friends, and Solana several times. Solana tried capturing Deoxys with her Capture Styler, but her efforts failed as it had to be in Normal Forme. Max was able to sense Deoxys’s feelings of pain, which Solana was able to confirm with her scanner and used a Miltank to heal Deoxys. Max climbed up the meteorite with Meowth and Deoxys up there. Deoxys created a Safeguard around itself, Max, and Meowth. Max soon learned that Deoxys felt cold and scared as it traversed through space. Deoxys then took the two to its world.

Immediately afterwards, Solana successfully used her Capture Styler to capture Deoxys. Solana had it use Recover to heal itself and then protect the group from the meteorite's strong blast of energy. With the disturbance gone, Deoxys left to continue exploring the world.

Personality and characteristics

Deoxys is very protective of itself and uses its forme changes to its advantage. It uses telepathy, sight sharing and electromagnetic waves to communicate its emotions with others. When Ash's group and Team Rocket first met Deoxys, Max and Meowth soon came to understand that it was suffering from pain and loneliness.

Hippopotas made his first appearance in Mass Hip-Po-Sis!, where Ash, with the aid of his friends, rescued the Pokémon from being trapped upon a high ledge. Rhonda and her Sinnoh Now crew revealed that they were on assignment filming a herd of Hippo Pokémon. It was then discovered that Hippopotas was lost, having been separated from his herd. As a result, Ash and his friends helped Hippopotas find his way back. Like a few other Pokémon, Hippopotas seemed to like riding atop of Ash's head.

Team Rocket attempted to steal Hippopotas multiple times for Giovanni, but their plans were foiled each time. All the while, Jessie had trouble saying the Pokémon's species name. Hippopotas fell into a stream after one of Team Rocket's attempts to capture him. With the assistance of Nurse Joy, Ash and his friends fetched a sackful of dry sand to help Hippopotas recover. Later, the group were able to reunite Hippopotas with his herd.

Hippopotas's second and final appearance was in Sleight of Sand! with his father, Hippowdon. In this episode, Butch and Cassidy also wanted to kidnap the Hippo Pokémon, but they failed.

Personality and characteristics

Hippopotas is a happy-go-lucky Pokémon that enjoys being close to his herd of family and friends. He wags his tail when excited. Hippopotas was initially anxious and even bit down on Ash's hand when they first met in Mass Hip-Po-Sis. After he was rescued from a precarious situation and offered some food, Hippopotas became incredibly friendly towards Ash and his friends. During the chaos, Wooper became separated from its friend Goomy as Goomy landed on a fleeing Swanna.

Sometime prior to A Dream Encounter!, Wicke of the Aether Foundation found Stufful trapped under a fallen tree. After freeing Stufful, Wicke took it to Aether Paradise to recover. Over time, the two became close.

Stufful first appeared in A Dream Encounter!, in a video on Professor Kukui's television. It was one of the Pokémon included in a presentation on Professor Burnet as the fifteenth recipient of the "Alola Woman on the Year" award and her workplace, Aether Paradise. It appeared again when Ash and his classmates visited Aether Paradise in Deceiving Appearances!.

During a plot by Team Rocket to steal the Pokémon at Aether Paradise in Don't Ignore the Small Stufful!, Stufful met and became attached to Jessie, although it refused to be caught.

Personality and characteristics

Stufful and Bewear together

Stufful was a carefree Pokémon, constantly walking throughout the conservation area of Aether Paradise. It is also a very affectionate Pokémon, as shown in Don't Ignore the Small Stufful!, where it grew attached to Jessie by grabbing on to the back of her hair.

The Melemele Greens are a group of Passimian who live in a forested area close to Iki Town. One nicknamed Tiny is the current leader of the Melemele Greens.

They reappeared in A Recipe for Success!, where they were among the Pokémon who visited Oranguru's Café and had their meal served by Mallow and Oranguru.

Personality and characteristics

The Melemele Greens are a sociable group of Passimian that enjoy keeping to themselves. Unlike the brutish Red Buns, the Melemele Greens do not engage in territorial squabbles. Tiny and the others developed their confidence and learned to defend themselves after Ash's interventions in SM064.

Eevee initially kept getting knocked off whenever Mantine did a flip, Eevee eventually learned how to time its jumps with Mantine's flips, allowing it to stay on Mantine's back. Mantine reappeared in the fourth episode of the segment, where, after arriving at Alola, it said its farewells to Eevee and headed back out to sea. It reappeared in a flashback in We Know Where You're Going, Eevee!.

It made its main series debut in Alola, Alola!, where it met up with Sandy again and helped it Mantine Surf with Lana. Later, it and several other Mantine were captured by Team Rocket before being rescued by Ash and his classmates. Afterwards, it and the other Mantine returned to the sea.

Personality and characteristics

Mantine is shown to be a kind Pokémon, as seen by its rescue of Eevee and its befriending of Lana, despite them being total strangers.

A group of Meltan first appeared in Evolving Research!, where they were briefly seen underwater, walking away from a Mystery Box near Poni Island.

Even more Meltan appeared in A Grand Debut!, where they were briefly seen on the boat Ash, his classmates, and Professor Kukui were taking from Poni Island to Melemele Island.

Team Rocket chased the runaway Hex Nut Pokémon into some nearby woods and attempted to capture them.

In Beauty is Only Crystal Deep!, they helped deliver a box containing Beast Balls and a medical kit to the Ultra Guardians for their next mission. Clefable then fed them screws as a reward.

In SM124, the Meltan appeared helping the Ultra Guardians again. They were also revealed to have started multiplying, doubling the total number. In SM126, the Meltan were shown to have multiplied even further, bringing the total number to 60.

In the Poké Problem segment for SM133, the Meltan left the Ultra Guardians base after overhearing Ash's Meltan contacting them from Manalo Stadium.

Personality and characteristics

All of the Meltan enjoy eating metal, as seen in Show Me the Metal!, where they launched themselves at anything made of metal and began to eat it. One of the Meltan, which would later become Ash's, has a timid and easily frightened personality, thus it doesn't always follow the rest.

Shaymin first appeared in Memories in the Mist!, where it encountered Mallow after being drawn to her strong feelings of gratitude towards her late mother. Mallow then decided to take it in until the time came for it to turn into its Sky Forme and fly away.

Personality and characteristics

Shaymin and Mallow

During its time with Mallow and Tsareena, Shaymin has grown close to them. This was seen in Drawn with the Wind!, when her headband was blown away in the wind, Shaymin chased after it to retrieve it. Shaymin is a compassionate Pokémon, being naturally drawn to feelings of thankfulness. It appears to be meek and adverse to fighting, as seen in Drawn with the Wind!, where it cowered behind Sandy and Ash's Meltan when confronted by Team Rocket. At the same time, its compassion leads it to risk itself in order to help others, as seen in the beginning of the episode, where it shoved Sandy out of the way of oncoming traffic, and later, when it cured Sandy of poison. Mallow surmises this might be in part due to Tsareena's influence.

It has a playful personality; in A Grand Debut!, it and Snowy ran to the sea and then back whenever waves would come in. Due to its playfulness, despite only meeting Mallow the previous day, Shaymin seems to be a fairly outgoing and extroverted Pokémon.

In its Land Forme, Shaymin is not very agile, often needing assistance from Sandy to climb objects such as barrels or boxes.

Personality and characteristics

Wingull is a kind Pokémon, as seen in SM131, when Rowlet, a Pokémon it didn't know, asked it to bring its foster family to the Manalo Stadium, which it did without hesitation. Much like Pikachu, Wingull is capable of imitating other Pokémon, as seen in SM132, where it used its imitation skills to tell Toucannon what was going on.

Recurring Pokémon that have been caught

Eleven Pokémon that recurred in the anime were later caught, eight by Ash, one by Clemont, one by Jessie, and one by Lana.
