In [[Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket]], the '''rarity''' of a card determines the likelihood of pulling it from {{TCG|booster pack}}s. Each card's rarity is marked with a symbol in the bottom-left corner of the card.

Though not officially named as such within the app, the majority of rarities used in Pokémon TCG Pocket correspond with a [[rarity]] from the [[Pokémon Trading Card Game]].

Cards with '''common''' rarity are marked with a single diamond ({{rar/TCGP|Diamond|1}}) and usually consist of {{TCG|Basic Pokémon}}—those that can and cannot evolve further—as well as certain {{TCG|Stage 1 Pokémon}}. {{TCG|Trainer card}}s depicting [[Fossil]]s, which are treated as Basic Pokémon when in play, are also of this rarity. Each regular booster pack will always contain three common cards.

Common cards can be purchased individually for 35 [[Pack point]]s, and can be traded for no cost other than trade stamina and the card being traded away. If a player receives an additional copy of a common card that they already have, they will receive 20 Shinedust (10 Shinedust prior to July 30, 2025).

Note that promo Trainer cards (such as the ones buyable from the shop) are equivalent to {{rar/TCGP|Diamond|1}} rarity, rather than {{rar/TCGP|Diamond|2}} like most Trainer cards in other sets.

If a player receives an additional copy of a promo card that they already have, they will receive the same amount of Shinedust as they would for a card of the equivalent rarity. Regardless of their equivalent rarity, promo cards cannot be traded. In solo battles that feature the battle task "Win this battle using a deck where all the Pokémon cards are of {{rar/TCGP|Diamond|1}}, {{rar/TCGP|Diamond|2}}, and/or {{rar/TCGP|Diamond|3}} rarity", a deck that includes any promo card other than a Trainer card will be disqualified from completing that task.
