The term transform glitch refers to a glitch in HeartGold and SoulSilver. It occurs after a Pokémon capable of using the move Transform uses the move Rage after transforming until the "Rage is building" message is shown followed by either capturing or defeating the Enemy Pokémon.

At the end of the battle the user's Pokémon will have the same moveset as the enemy Pokémon. Exploiting this glitch allows for Ditto to learn moves other than Transform and to subsequently pass down any Egg move.

Effects

A transformed Pokémon after using Rage at least once (but recieving the "Rage is building" message) will permanently learn the moves of the Pokémon that it transformed into. It will however, be able to re-learn any move that it may have forgotten prior to using the glitch from the Move Relearner. For example, Ditto can relearn Transform after forgetting it.

If a Ditto manages to learn an egg move through this glitch the player may be able to pass it down in the daycare if the paired Pokémon is Female.

This glitch is not exclusive to Ditto, as Pokemon that can learn Transform (Smeargle and Mew) as well as Pokémon which can use the move through Mimic are also able to exploit this glitch.
