The symbol for the cards in the Quick Starter Gift Set is an upside-down Pokéball.

Release Date

  • The set was released for the Christmas season in 1998.

Trivia

  • The two decks (Red & Green) are named after the first Japanese Pokémon games Pokémon Red and Green.
  • All of the cards found in this set are from the Veding Machine collection. What differs in the gift set is that none of the cards have rarity symbols (as is the case with all Japanese cards from fixed sets), making these more valuable than the normal Vending Machine cards.
  • The set also contains exclusive holographic versions of Scyther, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno and Master Ball, all of which are non-holographic in the normal Vending Machine collection.
  • In addition to the two decks, the set contains a rulebook, damage counters, two poison counters, two custom coins, a playmat and one Series 1 (Blue) Vending Sheet.
