Psyshock (Japanese: サイコショック Psycho Shock) is a damage-dealing Psychic-type move introduced in Generation V. It is TM03 as of Generation V.

Effect

In battle

Psyshock inflicts damage. Despite being classified as Special move, this move calculates damage using the user's Special Attack and the opponent's Defense stat (similar to Psystrike and Secret Sword).

Gothita Gothita jumps into the air and puts its arms out in front of it. It then forms a mass of thick light blue, blue and purple energy and fires it at the opponent. When it hits the opponent, it pushes it back and explodes. Sometimes, the black tuft of hair on its head twitches and glows light purple before using the attack. When this happens, its body flashes light blue, blue and purple before forming the mass of energy.

Trivia

  • Psyshock is an attack that has appeared on many English trading cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game since Generation I, long before its actualization as a move in Generation V. However, on the original Japanese cards, the attack's name is ねんりき, the Japanese name of Confusion. Its effect induces paralysis.
