PokeCollection is the stage name of Asad Naseem, a British-born entertainer, voice actor, journalist and social influencer based in New Zealand who runs a series of social channels based around his life, including his journey with Pokémon, pop culture and food. Whether it's the latest movie, his Pokémon adventures or his current favourite dish, Asad keeps his fans up to date on everything he loves. The project began on June 17th, 2009. The YouTube channel hit its 10,000th subscriber on November 7th, 2012 and surpassed 5 million views on March 26th 2014. As of August 2016 the YouTube channel has surpassed 33,000 subscribers and 9.7 million views.

Asad Naseem and PokeCollection is managed by New Zealand-based agency, Johnson & Laird.

History

PokeCollection originally began as a YouTube channel, launched on June 17th, 2009 by Asad Naseem. Following its launch, the channel grew rapidly and expanded into all areas of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Snapchat, and Twitch. During this process, Asad became more involved with companies officially associated with the Pokémon brand, various entertainment brands and local businesses and food establishments. With his growing presence online, he became known for delivering entertainment in many areas of pop culture, food and general day-to-day life on PokeCollection. Asad is now a voice actor and has conducted several interviews with notable celebrities and voice acting talent, including Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), Veronica Taylor (Pokémon, Sailor Moon), Stephanie Sheh (Naruto, Bleach) and Eric Stuart (Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon).

Sponsors

Several companies expressed an interest in supporting PokeCollection via a range of sponsorships, affiliations and ongoing relationships since PokeCollection was first launched, many being official and exclusive licensees of the Pokémon brand in Australia and New Zealand. Companies who have worked with PokeCollection including Tomy, Banter Toys & Collectibles, Beyond Home Entertainment, Nintendo, Sony Pictures, Roadshow Films, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Chupa Chups, Mighty Ape, Madman Entertainment and several more.

These connections allowed the exclusive rights to reveal various official releases and input into forthcoming products, including various Pokémon Trading Card Game expansions and products beginning with Next Destinies; a special edition release of Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice on DVD and Blu-Ray, exclusive to JB-Hi-Fi in Australia and New Zealand; the limited Heritage Collection Pokéball release and the ongoing wave of items distributed by Tomy Australia, including the forthcoming Z-RING. In 2015, Asad also teamed up with Beyond Home Entertainment to exclusively reveal the long-awaited re-release of the first three Pokémon movies.
