Pokétoon: The Pokémon Cartoon Animation (Japanese: ポケモンアニメシリーズ「POKÉTOON」 Pokémon Anime Series "Pokétoon") is a series of animated shorts featuring various Pokémon posted on the Pokémon Kids TV Japan YouTube channel.

The first short, Scraggy and Mimikyu, was released on June 5, 2020. Nearly a year later, the second short, The Pancham Who Wants to Be a Hero, was released on May 5, 2021. Four additional shorts were announced on May 10, 2021.[1]

Scraggy concept art
  • Prior to the short's release, Scraggy and Mimikyu director Taku Inoue posted a drawing of Scraggy in the short's artstyle on March 8, 2020.
  • The third episode ends with a battle between Tsubomi's Nidorino and a Gengar, referencing the opening of Pokémon Red and Blue.
  • The third episode's title name is similar to the name of single album (夢のつぼみ Japanese: Yume no Tsubomi) by Tsubomi's voice actor, Inori Minase.
  • Similar to the main anime, most Pokémon speak by saying their own names in these shorts.
