The Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass (Japanese: ポケットモンスター ソード エキスパンションパス Pocket Monsters Sword Expansion Pass) and the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass (Japanese: ポケットモンスター シールド エキスパンションパス Pocket Monsters Shield Expansion Pass) are paid downloadable content for the Generation VIII core series games Pokémon Sword and Shield. It was announced on January 9, 2020 during a Pokémon Direct, and was made available for purchase later that day.

It consists of two sets: The Isle of Armor, to be released in June 2020; and The Crown Tundra, to be released in the Northern Hemisphere fall 2020. Each part features the eponymous location in the Galar region: the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra, respectively.

Mechanics

Unlike previous titles such as Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which were separate games set in the same region as the primary paired versions of the generation, the Expansion Pass allows players to continue using their existing save data from Pokémon Sword and Shield to access the added content, some that weren't in the original Sword and Shield.

As a special purchase bonus, the player will receive serial codes for the Pikachu Uniform Set and the Eevee Uniform Set.
