The entire year of 2006 was celebrated as Pokémon's 10th Anniversary, as February 27, 2006 marked the tenth anniversary of the original Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green Versions, and therefore the tenth anniversary of the Pokémon media franchise as a whole.

Netherlands

The Pokémon Day of 2006 celebrated the 10th Anniversary with a possibility to choose three Pokémon from a list of ten (Lugia, Ho-oh, Entei, Latios, Latias, Charizard, Articuno, Raikou, Suicune, and Pikachu) to download it to a GBA cartridge.

In the summer of 2006, Perdue Farms distributed one million promotional mini-discs in packages of Perdue Chicken Breast Nuggets. The discs contained exclusive Flash-based Pokémon games, a Pokédex, and a Pokémon Trading Card Game "Learn to Play" demo. Beating the games on their highest difficulty allowed the player to view an exclusive 10th Anniversary music video, featuring the song Pokémon Go! and clips from the Pokémon anime.

Music

On March 27, 2007, five days before the tenth anniversary of the Pokémon anime, a new music CD was released in the United States titled Pokémon X. The CD included songs from the English dub of the anime, as well as new songs.

In Japan, another CD was released on October 28, 2006, titled 10th Anniversary Pokémon Happy Birthday Concert.

Merchandise

Several merchandise items were made in celebration of Pokémon's 10th Anniversary, many of them available on Pokémon Center's online store. Some examples include Viz Media's Pokémon All-Stars DVD set, which began as ten DVDs in celebration of the 10th Anniversary; a limited edition Fossil watch featuring Pikachu; and a 10th Anniversary trading card set by Topps.

A 10th Anniversary Pokédex guide was published by Prima Games. This book contained special artwork by Ken Sugimori and Pokédex information for each Pokémon in the National Pokédex up to Generation III, including Jirachi and Deoxys.
