Release information

This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it came with Volume 1 of Pokémon Trainer's Magazine, released in May 1999. The English version of the card was released through Pokémon card leagues in August 2001.

Trivia

• This card is commonly known as Snap Pikachu, in reference that the character image is a photo from Pokémon Snap.
• This is the only Pokémon card to have "Photo." instead of "Illus." where the illustrator name is traditionally placed.

Origin

Scratch and Thunderbolt are both moves in the Pokémon games. Pikachu can learn Scratch, but not Thunderbolt. This card’s Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Yellow, though it is reworded.
