Getting Past Gastrodon (Japanese: VS トリトドン VS Gastrodon), titled VS Gastrodon in the Chuang Yi translation, is the 396th chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the 59th chapter of the Diamond & Pearl arc. It is subtitled A Formidable Enemy & Girl Trio (Japanese: 強敵と三人娘 Strong Enemy and Three Girls) in the VIZ Media translation and Strong Enemy and Three Girls in the Chuang Yi translation.
Plot
Jupiter introduces herself to Platinum and her two companions, Gym Leaders Maylene and Candice, the latter of which is stuck in hardened mud. Maylene, orders her Riolu to free Candice, but Jupiter's Gastrodon fires a Mud Bomb against Riolu to knock it back. Platinum decides to take action, and calls forth her Empoleon, which Jupiter's Sableye lands a hit on as soon as it appears out of its Poké Ball.
