Lax and Don hold off Steelix's attack. Diamond decides that he must become stronger and commands Tru to use Crunch. The battle continues and ends when Steelix leaves the battle. Riley explains to Diamond that Steelix is the strongest Pokémon in this cave and he has never defeated it. Diamond's training then continues.

Later, Diamond cooks some food. Some wild Pokémon smell Diamond's food, so they all come to get some. Diamond shares with them. After sleeping, Diamond wakes up and goes on his special training. Byron calls to have a conversation with Riley, while Lucario senses something. The next day, Riley explains to Diamond about the final task as he must obtain a Pokémon Egg from the deepest part of the cave. While traveling, Diamond encounters the Steelix that he met on his first day again.
