VS Regice (Japanese: VS レジアイス VS Regice) is the 313th round of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the eleventh round of the Emerald arc.

Synopsis

The round begins with Regirock's explosion, and both Emerald's and Regirock are thrown to the ground. Emerald proclaims that Explosion is a childish move, but Pyramid King Brandon states that the battle is a showdown and he won't be caught chickening out of a win. Brandon has his remaining Regis attack Emerald, who sends out his remaining two Pokémon, Cubone and Hitmonchan.

Emerald moves Sceptile to a corner and sends his Hitmonchan to counterattack Brandon's Registeel with Fire Punch and Sky Uppercut, which knocks it out. Emerald initially celebrates but notices Hitmonchan fall over, due to being poisoned by Registeel's Toxic when Hitmonchan was busy attacking it. Failing to heal Hitmonchan in time, Emerald finds himself tied with Brandon again, with one Pokémon apiece. Regice attacks Cubone who barely defends itself using its bone, and Brandon notices a flash of light in the sky, which is revealed to be Jirachi.

Todd Snap runs out of the Battle Tower and runs into Latias in human form, who appears to makes him float into the air above the Battle Pyramid. Todd is initially scared, but Latias explains they are still outside Battle Tower and are only seeing what Latios is seeing through Latios' telepathic vision. Todd sees Sceptile and begins to worry that the Frontier Brains would think Emerald really did steal the rental Pokémon, and shouts that he'll never be able to clear his name. Latias tells him to calm down and points to Jirachi in the sky, who mysteriously disappears.

Brandon is surprised, and then is yelled at by Emerald who reminds him to concentrate on the battle. Regice breaks Cubone's bone and knocks it out, to which Brandon proclaims victory. Brandon then turns around to see his Regice falling and knocked out, and can't understand why or how this happened. He then sees Sceptile and questions how it could have defeated Regice when it was supposed to be knocked out. Emerald explains that he used a Revive which he had gathered 99 of while roaming through the Pyramid, and used it while Brandon was preoccupied with the flash of light in the sky.

Brandon laughs heartedly and, commending Emerald's bravery in his tactics, presents the Brave Symbol to Emerald. Todd runs up and congratulates Emerald, and tries to keep Emerald quiet about where he got Sceptile from. The group is then confronted by the rest of the Frontier Brains who demand to know where Sceptile came from. Emerald tells them he got them from the Battle Factory, and Tucker plans on handing him over to the police. Brandon then says he doesn't believe that Sceptile is a rental because the strategy that the two employed was extremely dangerous and advanced, and required Sceptile to have absolute faith in Emerald - something he wouldn't expect from a rental Pokémon. Anabel then asks Emerald to tell them everything he knows, and he starts with showing them the Pokédex entry of Jirachi and says that it appeared above the Battle Pyramid.
