She woke up with {{DL|Crystal (Adventures)|Chumee}} fretting over her. Crystal realized that she felt no pain, and noticed bones (used as makeshift splints) tied to her arms, as well as medicine. She wondered aloud who helped her, and notices a wild {{p|Cubone}} and {{p|Parasect}}. Crystal realized that the bones were from the Cubone and that the Parasect had used {{m|Spore}} to numb her. She thanked them as a wild {{p|Hitmonchan}} and {{p|Natu}} appeared. She introduced herself and Chumee to the four wild Pokémon but noticed that they were somewhat damaged, thus deducing that the [[Archy|Arcanine]] had attacked them as well. Suddenly, the Natu turned, and the others watched as the wild Arcanine appeared again. The five wild Pokémon prepared to {{pkmn|battle}}, but before they could start, Crystal notices that the Arcanine is injured near its right eye. She had the Parasect numb Arcanine's eye with spores, and the Arcanine stopped being hostile. They soon befriended one another. In the following month, the Parasect ({{DL|Crystal (Adventures)|Parasee}}) continued to give her medicine, the Cubone ([[Bonee]]) changed the bones on her arms, the Hitmonchan ({{DL|Crystal (Adventures)|Monlee}}) assisted her with tasks that needed hands, and the Natu ({{DL|Crystal (Adventures)|Natee}}) used its telepathic powers to sense nearby enemies.

Crystal's mother watches her daughter train as she tries to be able to capture Pokémon again. Her mother believes that the only way for Crystal to reclaim her skills is to train in the same place where she first learned to capture Pokémon by kicking Poké Balls: Mt. Mortar. Meanwhile, Crystal reminisces about after the wild Arcanine attacked her.

She woke up with Chumee fretting over her. Crystal realized that she felt no pain, and noticed bones (used as makeshift splints) tied to her arms, as well as medicine. She wondered aloud who helped her, and notices a wild Cubone and Parasect. Crystal realized that the bones were from the Cubone and that the Parasect had used Spore to numb her. She thanked them as a wild Hitmonchan and Natu appeared. She introduced herself and Chumee to the four wild Pokémon, but noticed that they were somewhat damaged, thus deducing that the Arcanine had attacked them as well. Suddenly, the Natu turned, and the others watched as the wild Arcanine appeared again. The five wild Pokémon prepared to battle, but before they could start, Crystal notices that the Arcanine is injured near its right eye. She had the Parasect numb Arcanine's eye with spores, and the Arcanine stopped being hostile. They soon befriended one another. In the following month, the Parasect (Parasee) continued to give her medicine, the Cubone (Bonee) changed the bones on her arms, the Hitmonchan (Monlee) assisted her with tasks that needed hands, and the Natu (Natee) used its telepathic powers to sense nearby enemies.

In the present, Crystal decides to use the same training schedule as she used in the past. She wonders whether she will be able to recover. After a few days, she still is unable to hit a moving target with a Poké Ball. Suddenly, Archy growls, and a Larvitar appears. It breaks the wooden target on Archy's side. It then attacks Archy, but only on the right side. Crystal deduces that the Larvitar was the Pokémon that injured Archy's eye. Crystal runs to the Poké Balls that her Pokémon are in, but sees that Larvitar has broken the switch. Megaree, the only one of Crystal's Pokémon out of its Poké Ball other than Archy, dashes forward and joins in the battle against the Larvitar. Then Megaree evolves into Bayleef and Crystal captures the Larvitar.

Crystal then continues her journey toward the southwest seas of Johto. Her mother, who has been secretly watching, also leaves. Meanwhile, Suicune jumps off of another peak behind Crystal and leaps to Goldenrod City. There, someone with an Ariados stands on a rooftop.
