201

The chapter begins with Green and Red discovering that the Eevee Red sent to Oak has disappeared. After explaining why Oak chose Pallet Town to do his research in, Green cockily makes his way to Saffron City to try and enter the area again. Angrily, Red follows.

At the west entrance, Green is trying to break the barrier. Like before, he fails. Thinking that the center of the barrier is the weakness, Green makes his way up. Meanwhile, Red is trying to break through the barrier himself. He, too, concludes that the center of the barrier must be the weakest point of the barrier. The two rivals meet and begin to quarrel. However, since their attacks fail no matter where they are aimed at, Red and Green travel back to the ground. As Green has Golduck search the inside wih confusion (thus producing a picture on Green's Pokédex), Red sends Pika inside using Substitute. Blue, on her Jigglypuff, sees this and tells the two that the key to getting rid of the barrier was to work together. The two rivals then combine their strengths and Pika is able to navigate through Saffron City.

Mr. Mime merrily dances along a path, but Pika catches up easily. Noticing Pika, Mr. Mime begins to disappear, but Pikachu strikes it with Thunderbolt just before it disappears, defeating it. The barrier fades and Red and Green enter the city with Blue just behind them.
