Team Dim Sun is the third chapter of the Darkrai Mission Story: Pokémon Ranger Batonnage - the Comic manga.

Synopsis
Team Dim Sun is the third chapter of the Darkrai Mission Story: Pokémon Ranger Vatonage - the Comic manga.
A Rampardos bursts into the entrance hall and splits them up, forcing Barlow and Crawford away from the rest of the group. The two send their partner Pokémon to attack it, unsure if it's wild or not. Heath appears and explains the Rampardos is his and he and the rest of the Sinis Trio are planning on restarting Team Dim Sin. Barlow realises Ice and Lavana are also in the building and sends Kate and Kellyn to find them. As the rangers refuse, Barlow orders them as their base leader. Reluctantly agreeing, Kellyn runs off, forcing Professor Hastings and Kate to chase after him. They reach the elevator, but it is broken. Kate shows off her mechanic skills as she fixes it and calls it down to the ground floor. Whilst they wait, Kate worried about the faits of Crawford and Barlow and Kellyn asks the Professor how he got stuck on the girders where they found him. Professor Hastings explains he was climbing the tower to visit Iori when something dragged him outside the building by his collar. As he was being dragged towards the top of the building, he got caught on the girders. Kate realizes it was Darkrai who dragged him, surprising the Professor. The two rangers and their partners take the lift to the tenth floor, leaving a very stunned Professor Hastings behind.

Kellyn brings Kate into the command room, where he explains it was used by Blake Hall to mastermind Team Dim Sun when Kellyn disbanded them. Kellyn recalls a newspaper article explaining how the Dark Crystal was changed by the Blue, Red and Yellow gems into the Lumina Crystal, but realizes the fish Pokémon in the nearby tank are definitely being controlled by the same darkness he put a stop to. Ice and Lavana, sitting in the swivel chairs, come into view, explaining they removed the three gems and returned the Lumina Crystal to its former state as the Dark Crystal. Whilst Kate doesn't know who they are, Kellyn remembers them as the other two members of the Sinis Trio. Ice uses his Froslass to freeze Kate and Kellyn from the waist down, stopping them from moving and from using their stylers as their hands are also frozen. Ice comments that with their partner Pokémon, legs and stylers frozen, they are easy to be defeated. He adds another tried to stop them, and when Kellyn asks who Darkrai appears at the window, answering his question. Kellyn is shocked to see his old colleague weak and in pain. As Ice tells them Darkrai was attacked because he tried to stop them from taking the three gems, Kate is upset whilst Kellyn furiously realizes it was Darkrai who tried to drag Professor Hastings to the top of the tower to show him what the Sinis Trio were doing and to ask for help. Lavana reveals the Sinis Trio still have some Pokémon-controlling devices that were hidden in the Oil Rig that Kellyn and Sven attacked previously and powers one of them up. Kate tells Kellyn to think of something, but he merely tries to think of a time he read about where something like this has happened before. Kate snaps at him to shut up and orders him to release his capture disk. When he asks why, she explains when she fiddled with his styler back at his house, she strengthened the ejector mechanism so it may be possible to launch the capture disk through ice and set Kellyn free, since her own new styler isn't strong enough for it. Kellyn thinks about when he captured the Togekiss before, and remembers silently that he was unsure if he'd make the capture, although he now realises it was because of Kate he could launch the capture disk that high up. Snapping out of his thoughts, Kellyn tries to think of some Pokémon to capture when he sees the water Pokémon in the tank. As Ice begins to count down to the activation of the Dark Crystal, Kellyn manages to free his hand and send the capture disk into the tank. Kate remembers that whilst Area Stylers need an antenna to work, a Vatonage Styler only require the fingers to move. Without Ice or Lavana noticing, Kellyn captures a Huntail and orders it to smash out of the tank, therefore stopping the countdown. The action also frees Kellyn, Kate and the Pachirisu. The Pachirisu then jump on the washed-up Ice and Lavana's heads and swipe the blue and red gems, giving them to their rangers. Before Ice and Lavana have time to recover, the two rangers rush towards the balcony where they saw Darkrai.

A Rampardos bursts in and rushes in to attack. Barlow and Crawford protect Professor Hastings by using their Makuhita and Budew to hold it in place. They wonder if the Rampardos is wild, but Heath appears and reveals that it belongs to him. Heath introduces himself as a member of Team Dim Sun's Sinis Trio, revealing that the team is back under new leadership.

Upon arriving on the balcony, they realize Darkrai has gone. Kellyn turns as he hears someone call his name and sees a black-clad man and Darkrai emerge from behind the bulk of the tower. Kellyn prepares to rush over to Darkrai, but stops when he recognizes the man. Kate asks Kellyn who he is, but before he can reply, the man scolds them for running through the hallways and threatens them with another suspension or perhaps expulsion. Behind him, Darkrai has an evil glint in its eyes.
Barlow tells Kellyn, Kate, and Professor Hastings to go on ahead while he and Crawford stay behind to face Heath. Kate refuses, but Barlow reminds her that he's the leader of the Vien Base. Kellyn reluctantly agrees and tells Professor Hastings and Kate to come with him. They head towards the elevator, but it doesn't work. Kate uses her mechanical skills to fix the elevator, and the three quickly run inside. While they wait inside, Kate worries about Barlow and Crawford's safety while Professor Hastings expresses surprise to Team Dim Sun's return. Kellyn asks the Professor how he got trapped in the steel frame.

Hastings reveals that when he arrived, something pulled him up into the air which caused him to get stuck in the frames when he tried to resist. Kate realizes that the culprit must have been Darkrai, much to Hastings's confusion. They arrive at the tenth floor and tell the Professor to stay put. They enter the director's office, which is where Blake Hall commanded Team Dim Sun. Kellyn recites an article of the Almia Times that describes how Team Dim Sun controlled Pokémon with the Shadow Crystal, which was turned into the Luminous Crystal by the Tears of Princes. Kate notes that despite what happened, the Pokémon inside the fish tank are being controlled by darkness. Two voices reveal that the reason that the Pokémon are being controlled is because they simply removed the three gems.

The voices introduce themselves as Ice and Lavana, who make up the Sinis Trio with Heath. Ice summons his Froslass and has it freeze Kellyn and Kate's legs and Stylers. With their legs and Stylers frozen, Ice confidently claims victory and states that the two Rangers shall be left there. He adds that another one had tried to stop them and points to Darkrai weakly floating from behind the window. Ice reveals that Darkrai considers itself the Luminous Crystal's guardian and tried to stop Team Dim Sun, only to be defeated. Kellyn guesses that Darkrai grabbed Professor Hastings because it was trying to tell him something.

Lavana confirms Kellyn's theory and sets up the next stage of their plan. Lavana presents the Pokémon-controlling Gigaremo and Miniremo units that were pulled out of the destroyed Oil Field Hideout and activates them. Kellyn tries to figure out how get out of the ice and begins thinking of an Almia Times article to help him. Kate tells him to forget the Almia Times and just use his Styler to eject the Capture Disc. Kate reveals that the day before, she made Kellyn's ejection mechanism stronger, which makes it strong enough to break through the ice. In his head, Kellyn notes that he wasn't completely sure that his attempt to capture Togekiss would have worked and attributes it to Kate's skills.

Kellyn looks for a Pokémon to capture and turns to the Huntail in the fish tank. Kellyn makes sure to prevent Ice and Lavana from seeing him while he releases the Capture Disc. In her head, Kate notes that unlike a regular Styler, which uses an antenna to control a Capture Disc, a Vatonage Styler uses a Ranger's finger as the antenna instead. Kellyn maneuvers the Capture Disc into the fish tank and successfully captures the Huntail inside. Kellyn commands Huntail to use the Crush Target Clear to smash the Gigaremo and Miniremo.

Kellyn calls the Capture Disc back and uses it to free himself and Kate from the ice. With Ice and Lavana dazed from the attack, both Pachirisu take the other two Gems. Kellyn and Kate immediately head to the top of the tower. They look for Darkrai, only to find it has disappeared. Kate's Pachirisu notes Darkrai hiding behind the elevator and points the two Rangers towards it. Kellyn and Kate immediately rush over to help, only to find their teacher, Kincaid dressed in a Team Dim Sun uniform with Darkrai right beside him. Before they can even say anything, Kincaid scolds the two for running in the halls and threatens them with expulsion.
