The Legendary Articuno! (Japanese: 伝説のポケモン フリーザー!, Legendary Pokémon Articuno!), is the second chapter of the second volume of Magical Pokémon Journey.

When the manga was published in monthly issues in North America, it was published in Volume 2, Issue 1: Almond's Adventure Club.

Synopsis

On a skiing trip, Pikachu and Clefairy think Hazel has died! Grandpa tells them of the legendary Articuno, thought to spirit away the lives of those lost in snowy mountains, so the two most unlikely heroes set off to find Articuno and demand Hazel's life back.

Chapter guide

Hazel and friends travel to a ski resort. Hazel is not a very good skiier and slips away down a hill. When Clefairy and Pikachu reach the bottom of the hill, they find only her skis, so they believe that she has died. Grandpa mentions a legendary Articuno that lives atop the mountain, and Pikachu and Clefairy decide to seek it out and demand Hazel's life back (as Articuno supposedly spirits the souls of lost travelers away).

When they finally reach the top of the mountain, the Pokémon discover that Articuno is a friendly Pokémon that runs a Snow Cone shop. Articuno assumes that they are at the shop for its "Can You Eat 50 Snowcones?" contest and says that if they win, it will grant them a wish with its legendary powers.

Clefairy and Pikachu are unable to come close to 50, but Jigglypuff, who joined the two Pokémon part way up the mountain, managed to eat 49 Snowcones. When Jigglypuff decides that it is too full to eat any more, Clefairy and Pikachu cry that they have failed to rescue Hazel. Articuno feels sorry for them and offers to grant their wish anyways, but just before they are able to, Hazel appears. Hazel explains that she crashed into a tree and that Articuno had flown her to safety. Articuno flies the group back down the mountain and bids them farewell.
