Onia (Japanese: コニア Conia^[2]) is a member of the Explorers and a former supporting antagonist in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. She is also Amethio's subordinate alongside Zirc. After Amethio's disappearance, she and Zirc started acting as double agents against Spinel.

History

Pre-series

As revealed in Charcadet's Wish!, at some point prior to The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), Onia alongside Zirc joined the Explorers after being recruited by Hamber, who assigned her to serve as Amethio's direct subordinate. Onia was ready to take advantage of Amethio's status as Gibeon's grandson and heir to the fortune to rise up the ranks, though as she started working together with him, she eventually came to pledge complete loyalty to him out of respect for his diligence and character.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Onia debuted in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One) alongside the other members of the Explorers. After spotting Liko hiding on the roof, Onia alerted her teammates and joined them on the roof. When Friede from the Rising Volt Tacklers swoop in to defend Liko, Amethio stopped her and Zirc from assisting. After Friede escaped with Liko in the next episode, her and the rest of the Explorers gave chase, broke through the airship's defenses, and threatened Liko to give herself up. Friede stopped them from leaving and battled Amethio once more, but they managed to escape after Liko's Sprigatito unleashed a Leafage strong enough to break the forcefield around the battlefield, taking it as a hostage in the process.

In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, Onia grew fond of Sprigatito and began pampering it. After she had run out of Pokémon food, Onia went shopping and was spotted by Murdock's Rockruff, who immediately alerted the nearby Rising Volt Tacklers and chased her back to the Explorers' hideout. Soon, Onia confronted Liko after she'd reunited with Sprigatito and was disappointed that the Grass Cat Pokémon wanted to stay with Liko. By blinding her and her Skarmory with a Leafage attack, Sprigatito and Liko were able to escape.

As of The Ancient Poké Ball, after leaving without a mission to complete, that was now given by Spinel, Onia decided to follow Amethio in order to discover more about the Black Rayquaza that was summoned from Roy's ancient Poké Ball.

In The Lonely Hatenna, Onia with Amethio and Zirc arrived in the Galar region in order to investigate the Galar Mine. In the next episode, Onia and his team arrived at the Galar Mine where they came across Liko, Roy, and Friede and they battled them. However, the two groups witnessed a Galarian Moltres that had an Ancient Poké Ball arrive and attack them. Seeing how powerful Moltres was, Onia and Zirc retreated from their battle against Liko and Roy. In the following episode, the two reunited with Amethio and agreed to help him get the Pokémon that was in Liko's pendant.

In Reunion at the Ancient Castle!, Onia, Amethio, and Zirc reported their findings to Hamber. Later, they followed Liko, Roy, and Friede to the old castle in Hammerlocke and surrounded them in order to take the Pokémon away. In the next episode, Oria tried to prevent Roy and Liko's escape, but failed. However, she was able to find Roy and Liko again, so he and Onia forced them to battle. During the battle, Onia was overwhelmed by Liko's improvement in battle, which led her to lose.

In Roar of the Black Rayquaza, Onia, Amethio, and Zirc were able to locate Rayquaza. Amethio told his subordinates to remain on standby whilst he went to confront it.

After Amethio's battle against Black Rayquaza in From So Far Away, Onia appeared with Zirc to check if Amethio was okay, then the group returned to the Explorers' base.

In The Treasure of Eternity, it was revealed that Onia and Zirc were spying on Spinel under Amethio's orders.

In Into a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!, following Amethio's temporary ban from the Explorers, Amethio informed Onia that he was planning on going on a mission on his own. Showing loyalty to Amethio, Onia and Zirc insisted on accompanying him.

In The Truth Revealed!, Onia, Amethio, and Zirc infiltrated the Exceed building to uncover what Spinel was scheming, only to end up captured by security. They were freed by Hamber, who took them to Amethio's mansion and told them about Gibeon's past and his association with Laqua. Believing Spinel was manipulating Gibeon in order to obtain the Laquium himself, Amethio set for Laqua with Onia and Zirc by his side.

In Guided by the Black Rayquaza!, after arriving in Laqua, Onia, and Zirc helped Liko, Roy, and Dot get past Coral, Sidian, and Chalce, who were guarding where the Laquium was hidden. Though fearful of their superiors' wrath, Onia and Zirc stood by their decision and were prepared to face whatever punishment they received.

In Where the Adventure Leads, when Laqua began collapsing due to Spinel's actions, Onia and Zirc returned to Amethio and convinced him to flee the area with them.

In Following Traces of Laquium, a year after the events at Laqua, Onia and Zirc had become separated from their boss Amethio, whose whereabouts were unknown. Hamber, not believing Spinel's report that Amethio had betrayed Gibeon and that both had died in Laqua, secretly entrusted Onia and Zirc with a mission to find him as well as the White Zygarde, being given a Zygarde Cube in doing so.

In Terastallization vs. Mega Evolution!, Onia appeared with Zirc somewhere in the sea trying to find Amethio's whereabouts, without success, she asked Zygarde to guide her.

In Nidothing Love!, while taking a break from searching for Amethio in Levincia, Onia discovered that Zirc was planning to join a handshake event hosted by Nidothing and Iono. The next day, a gust of wind blew Zirc's ticket into a nearby storm drain. When Liko and her friends happened upon the depressed Zirc, they agreed to help find the ticket. They tracked the ticket to a nearby beach, where it ended up stuck on top of a wild Wugtrio's head. Everyone battled Wugtrio together, giving Zirc's Rhydon the opportunity to retrieve the ticket. Later, Onia and Zirc approached Liko, where they revealed that Amethio was missing and personally asked her to assist them in finding him.

In Charcadet's Wish!, after paying a visit to Amethio's mansion, Onia. Zirc, and Liko began looking for clues that would help them determine where Amethio was located. When Liko's Charcadet came across one of Amethio's childhood photos, Onia and Zirc called Cervantis, who explained he took the photo while on a family vacation years ago. Off the coast of Levincia, everyone found Amethio alive, but in hiding on an island to avoid being captured by Spinel's agents. Onia and Zirc begged Amethio to take Exceed and the Explorers from Spinel's grasp, but he refused, stating that with Gibeon's passing, he was powerless to do anything. With words of encouragement from Liko and a battle with her Charcadet, Amethio managed to regain the resolve to fight against Spinel's machinations. Despite this, Amethio refused to go with Onia and Zirc, stating that as members of the Explorers, there were things they could accomplish on the inside that he couldn't. Accepting this, Zirc passed on the Zygarde Cube to Amethio before leaving the island with Onia. Afterward, Onia and Zirc reported to Hamber that Amethio was safe and sound.

Character

Amongst the Explorers, Onia appears to be the most ruthless and violent of the trio, going so far as to threaten Liko through Sprigatito to achieve her goals. In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, however, Onia demonstrated a much lighter side while monitoring Sprigatito, even to the point of her wanting to keep the Grass Cat Pokémon to herself. More recently, in Charcadet's Wish!, it was revealed that these feelings did not change when Onia delivered food especially for Liko's Meowscarada.

Onia has been shown to be quite loyal to Amethio, whether receiving instructions on how to proceed or not interfering with his actions. This was also shown in Into a New Sky! The Brave Olivine! when she insisted on accompanying Amethio on his mission after being dismissed from the Explorers.

As seen in Nidothing Love!, even though she doesn't show it much, Onia does care for Zirc's feelings and feels content when he's happy as she went out of her way to help him find his ticket after he lost it and got depressed. She is not too proud to never seek help when it's needed, as seen when she and Zirc both personally asked Liko to help them find Amethio. It was also revealed that she has been a fan of Grusha since his snowboarding days. In Charcadet's Wish!, it's revealed that she and Zirc were a little judgmental of Amethio when they first met him but her perspective of Amethio changed overtime and she became completely loyal to him and wants to help him showing she cares for Amethio as a friend and superior.

Skarmory is Onia's first known Pokémon. She used it as her main mean of transportation.

In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, Onia sent out Skarmory to battle Liko and her Sprigatito, only for them to escape after blinding it with Leafage.

In The Truth Revealed!, Skarmory, along with Onia's Golduck, as well as Zirc and Amethio's Pokémon, were all confiscated by Spinel's personal security when they infiltrated Exceed, but were later retrieved by Hamber.

Skarmory's only known move is Whirlwind.

Golduck is Onia's second known Pokémon and her main partner.

In Found You, Fuecoco!, Onia sent out Golduck to battle the Rising Volt Tacklers before confronting Liko and her Sprigatito, only to be defeated.

In Charge! Galar Mine!, Golduck was sent out by Onia to battle against Liko and Sprigatito again at the Galar Mine. Just as Golduck was about to make contact with its Scratch, Captain Pikachu sent it flying with a super-effective Volt Tackle. When Lucius's Moltres appeared, it attacked everyone in sight and Golduck ended up getting knocked out by its Air Slash attack, prompting Onia to recall her Pokémon and flee.

In Reunion at the Ancient Castle!, Golduck joined Zirc's Rhydon and Amethio's Ceruledge in ambushing the Rising Volt Tacklers and Diana at the old castle in Hammerlocke. In the next episode, it battled Liko's Sprigatito again, but due to Sprigatito's expert usage of Leafage to blind it, Golduck was ultimately knocked out and promptly recalled by Onia.

In The Truth Revealed!, Golduck, along with Onia's Skarmory, as well as Zirc and Amethio's Pokémon, were all confiscated by Spinel's personal security when they infiltrated Exceed, but were later retrieved by Hamber, and Golduck happily reunited with its Trainer. It later enjoyed a meal at Amethio's mansion and confidently agreed with Onia in regards to assisting Amethio with his decision to reach Laqua.

In Guided by the Black Rayquaza!, Golduck and Rhydon attacked Coral's Glalie, Sidian's Garganacl, and Chalce's Medicham with Muddy Water and Rock Slide, respectively, allowing Liko, Roy, and Dot to pass and reach Gibeon.

In HZ124, Golduck joined forces with Zirc's Rhydon and Amethio's Ceruledge to battle three Explorers's Golbat, Marowak, and Shelgon to cause a distraction, allowing the Rising Volt Tacklers to infiltrate the Explorers HQ.

Onia revealed in Nidothing Love! that Golduck has very sensitive skin and has difficulty swimming in sea water because of this condition.

Golduck's known moves are Scratch, Water Pulse, and Muddy Water.

In Following Traces of Laquium, Hamber instructed Zirc and Onia to gather the White Zygarde's Cells that previously belonged to Gibeon. Along with the Zygarde Cube, Hamber left the Zygarde Cell that was with him in their care. After reuniting with Amethio, Zirc and Onia handed the Zygarde Cube to him.
