Oleana (Japanese: オリーヴ Olive) is Rose's secretary. She also serves as the vice-president of his company, Macro Cosmos. Previously, she was a researcher and invented the Dynamax Band.[1]

In the games

Oleana is first seen by Rose's side at Motostoke Stadium during the Gym Challenge opening ceremony. She later accompanies him at Hulbury, where she urges the player to earn their Water Badge and join the chairman at a local seafood restaurant. Once the player has won the Badge, Oleana will give the player Rose's League Card and repeat her request. Once the player reaches Hammerlocke, Oleana is seen meeting up with Bede. When Bede later threatens to destroy the ancient mural at Stow-on-Side, Oleana appears with Chairman Rose and revokes Bede's Gym Challenger status.

After the player has cleared the Champion Cup semi-finals, Oleana tasks a League Staff member with keeping the key to Rose Tower away from the player and Hop, wanting to keep Chairman Rose undisturbed during his conversation with Leon. Once the player and Hop reach the top floor of Rose Tower, Oleana challenges the player to a battle in an effort to stop them from reaching Rose.

During the climax of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Oleana requests the player's help in stopping Rose's plan of using Eternatus to bring about the second Darkest Day. During the post-game, she can be found doing voluntary community service at the Galar Mine, giving the player Rose's rare League Card.

After the player has completed The Crown Tundra storyline, Oleana can be found at the Old Cemetery at nighttime, having come to the Crown Tundra to investigate rumors about Rose having been seen there. Upon learning that the person in question was actually Peony and not Rose, she is momentarily angered but quickly calms down before leaving.

Quotes

Pokémon Sword and Shield

Hulbury
  • Upon first entering the city
"Our sincerest apologies! The chairman is quite busy at the moment... Everyone, please disperse! Please leave now!"
"Fans are very important, of course. That's why you need to keep doing your work— for their sake."
"Chairman, we should really be going..."
"The chairman will be heading to this town's seafood restaurant. Win the Gym Badge and join him there at once. Do not keep him waiting."
"I believe the chairman was quite clear. Get your Water Badge at once."
"Do not keep the chairman waiting. Head to the seafood restaurant—the Captain's Table. So you will not forget the chairman's face, I will give you one of his League Cards."
"Chairman Rose is the kind of man who gets downhearted if he doesn't take care of things he needs to right away... Go to the seafood restaurant as soon as possible, so as not to keep the chairman waiting."
Captain's Table
"Understood, Chairman. I will arrange a meeting with Ms. Sonia."
"However, I believe it is about time we get going, Chairman."
Hammerlocke
"Good work, Bede. I'm glad you haven't forgotten that it was the chairman who endorsed you."
"Challenger Bede, there is something I wish to discuss with you. Do you have a moment?"
Stow-on-Side
"Challenger Bede!"
"I wondered what you were up to when you asked to borrow Chairman Rose's Copperajah... I can't believe you'd try to use the chairman’s Pokémon to destroy a historical site!"
"Challenger Bede. I will be taking those Wishing Stars that you have gathered."
Wyndon
"What a beautiful display of sibling love! However, it is entirely unnecessary."
"Chairman Rose is with the Champion in a very, very important meeting..."
"There is no way I will let anyone interfere!"
"After all, only authorized personnel with the proper key can ride the monorail to Rose Tower."
"That means as long as Chairman Rose is in the tower, no one can disturb him!"
"I have hand selected a member of the League staff and given them a key. Chairman Rose does enjoy these kind of menial games after all."
"Do you think you can tell the difference between normal League staff and the one I chose?"
Rose Tower
1F (via intercom)
"Intruder alert. Intruder alert. All staff are ordered to help remove the intruders from the premises at once."
Top floor
"Welcome to Chairman Rose’s exclusive space. Here, nearly a thousand feet above the earth!"
"So, you got through all of the special staff that I had ordered to stop you. I would expect nothing less of the Trainers handpicked by Champion Leon himself."
"But I am afraid it is now time for you to go home."
"Because..."
"I will not allow anyone to disturb the great Chairman Rose!"
"You shall be the first, <player>! If I beat you to pieces, then the Champion will have no one to battle and will thus lose heart. In that state, he will listen to anything the chairman says!"
  • Upon receiving first attack
"My, how cheeky. To do such a thing as to hurt my partner!"
  • Upon sending out final Pokémon
"This is my last Pokémon? Seriously?! Oleana's gotta finish this!"
"I think I’ll treat you to something truly spectacular. A Gigantamax at Rose Tower."
"Here is a move I was good with even before I changed my image."
  • Upon being defeated
"*sigh* I wasn't able to win... Oleana...you really are a hopeless woman."
  • After being defeated
"Arghhh! This is inexcusable... What was I thinking... Any Gym Challenger who's made it this far would be no pushover..."
"Under normal circumstances, I would have tried to delay you further. However, all the necessary Wishing Stars have been collected. Do as you wish. There is nothing to be done now."
"Everything I did, I did to further the chairman's own goals..."
Hammerlocke Stadium
"G-Gym Challenger! You must help me! I-I mean, please, help me!"
"My Pokémon suddenly Dynamaxed for some reason and started running amok in the stadium..."
"Raihan...I mean, Mr. Raihan was able to subdue the Dynamax Pokémon in the stadium, but..."
"If other Pokémon also Dynamax and go on a rampage..."
"the underground power plant would collapse! Mr. Rose is down there right now!"
"I know this is selfish of me, but I must beg your assistance! I want you to head into the underground power plant and stop Mr. Rose!"
"Mr. Rose has awakened a Pokémon known as Eternatus... Apparently, the energy emitted from its body is what causes Dynamaxing."
"At this rate, all the Pokémon in the Galar region will Dynamax and go berserk! If that were to happen—"
"Please, you must save Mr. Rose! You can take the lift over there to reach him. I’ve enlisted the help of the Champion's younger brother, too, but who knows what is going on..."
"Oh no... Eternatus is— Oh, Mr. Rose..."
Galar Mine
"Oh... Champion. I never thought I'd run into you in the mines."
"I've been doing some voluntary community service on Mr. Rose's behalf."
"Mr. Rose... A long time ago he used to work in a coal mine, you know. That’s why I'm actually happy with doing this kind of work. Yes! I’m so happy, I think I'll give you one of my prized League Cards!"
"You don't need to worry... I have a hundred copies of Mr. Rose's League Card. They’re all signed, too!"
"Champion... Thank you for stopping Eternatus. I know Mr. Rose feels the same way... But he was just so worried about the future..."
Crown Tundra (Old Cemetery)
"Where...? Where are you?"
"Where, oh where, could you be, my...?"
Ms. Oleana?! :"Oh my. Champion? I didn't expect to find you here."
A ghost?! :"I beg your pardon? There is no ghost here—only a now-mildly-peeved Oleana."
"But what a stroke of luck. You may just have the information I need."
"Word has reached me that Chairman Rose has supposedly been seen in these parts. I know full well that cannot be true, but I could not help but come and investigate."
"Would you happen to know anything about Mr. Rose somehow being here in this tundra?"
I think I might... :"You do?! What do you know? Tell me straightaway!"
Sorry, I don't :"No, I suppose you would not. Things are never as simple as that..."
"M-Mr. Rose?!"
"You... You're not Mr. Rose at all!"
"But there is a slight resemblance. Could you be Mr. Rose's...?"
"Looking closely, I can see you do indeed lack his intelligence and grace... Not that a particularly close look is needed."
"*gasp* Does this mean the 'Mr. Rose' seen here was...?"
"I am now one extremely peeved Oleana!"
"You may be Mr. Rose's brother, but ultimately, you and he are nothing alike!"
"Well, now that I know Mr. Rose is not here, I see no reason to linger."
"Farewell, Champion. And likewise to...that man over there."
"Hello? Have I reached the Flying Taxi service? I need a pickup from the Crown Tundra, please."

In the main series

Oleana debuted in JN042, where she and Rose visited the Galar Energy Plant, just as a burst of Galar Particles escaped from the reactor core. She pushed for more energy to be injected into the core, eventually prompting Eternatus to awaken. In the meantime, she had one of her subordinates follow Goh and Sonia, who were trying to learn more about the Darkest Day legend.

In JN044, Oleana stopped Goh from reaching Rose, but she lost in the battle that unfolded inside the Hammerlocke Stadium foyer in JN045. She returned to her boss's side, joining him in a helicopter to watch Eternatus transform into its Eternamax form and take on Ash, Goh, and Leon. Following Eternatus's defeat and capture, she went into hiding with Rose.

Character

Oleana is dedicated to her position as Rose's secretary and wholeheartedly supports his ambitions. She is contemptuous and prone to violent outbursts of anger, especially when Rose's integrity is questioned. Later in JN045, when Eternatus transformed into its Eternamax form, Oleana expressed some concerns about Rose's actual motives.
