The Nintendo Switch Lite (Japanese: ニンテンドースイッチライト Nintendo Switch Lite) is Nintendo's handheld console for the eighth generation of video games. It was announced on July 10, 2019, and will be released worldwide on September 20, 2019. It's the smaller version of the Nintendo Switch with some functions disabled.

Comparison to the original Nintendo Switch

  • This console is handheld and can only support Nintendo Switch games that support Handheld mode.
  • Joy-Con controllers are now in console and cannot be detached. However, they can be bought to enable support for games that require using Joy-Cons, like 1-2-Switch.
  • This console is not compatible with Nintendo Switch dock. Does not support output to a TV. Therefore, it does not come with a dock, HDMI cable or kickstand.
  • Battery life is longer.
