Moongeist Beam (Japanese: シャドーレイ Shadow Ray) is a damage-dealing Ghost-type move introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature move of Lunala and Dawn Wings Necrozma.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, it can be upgraded to the special Z-Move Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom by Lunala or Dawn Wings Necrozma holding Lunalium Z.

Effect

Moongeist Beam inflicts damage, ignoring the target's Ability if it changes the effect of the attack on the target. Abilities that affect the user of the attack, like Pressure, are not ignored. Moongeist Beam does not ignore the effects of Shadow Shield and Prism Armor. Moongeist Beam's ability-ignoring effect does not apply if it is used via a move that calls another move.
