Mold Breaker (Japanese: かたやぶり Mold-Breaking) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Eighteen Pokémon can have this Ability.
Effect
In battle
Mold Breaker ignores the effects of Abilities that could potentially weaken or negate moves (or side-effects of moves) that its user executes; for example, a Pokémon with Mold Breaker can use Earthquake against opponents that posess Levitate. Mold Breaker applies regardless of target Pokémon, but only to moves executed by its user (so if two Pokemon in a double battle both know Earthquake, only the Pokémon with Mold Breaker can hit a Levitating opponent).
Mold Breaker does not ignore types that grant immunity to attacks or effects, such as the Ground-type's immunity to Thunder Wave or Steel's immunity to Poison.
Unlike Gastro Acid, which completely negates a target's Ability, the opponents' Abilities otherwise remain in effect: Abilities that protect against status ailments (Immunity, Insomnia, etc.) will not protect the Pokémon from receiving the status ailment, but (with the exception of Leaf Guard) will immediately cure it of the status inflicted. Abilities that draw attacks to the user, such as Lightningrod and Storm Drain, will still divert attacks in double or triple battles regardless of Mold Breaker, but will not prevent the attacks from landing (or landing with 100% accuracy) or inflicting damage on the Pokémon.

- Roark's Rampardos's Mold Breaker stopped Ash's Pikachu's Static in the anime, even though Static is not affected by Mold Breaker in the games.
