The original Japanese version of this card was part of the Fossil set. The English version was released as a promotional card at Pokémon Trading Card Game leagues in both holographic (April 2000) and non-holographic (January 2000) versions. It was never included in the English Fossil set.
This card was released in the Japanese {{TCG|Mystery of the Fossils}} expansion, as a Holofoil card. The English print became available at {{TCG|Pokémon League}}s as a Non Holofoil {{TCG|Wizards Black Star Promos|Wizards Black Star Promo}} on January 8, 2000. In Japan, this English print was included in the July 2000 issue of ''Gotta Magazine'', alongside a French {{TCG ID|Wizards Promo|Pikachu|4}}. Both cards are printed on glossy card stock. A Holofoil reprint, numbered 9, became available in Pokémon Leagues in April 2000.
