The McDonald's Collection (Japanese: コレクションシート 旅立ちの仲間 Collection Sheet Journey Partners) is a collection of cards released in North American McDonald's Happy Meals for a limited time, from 17 June to 7 July, 2011. In Japan, the collection was the first BW era release of Pokémon trading cards.
Information
Originally, the Journey Partners Collection Sheets were themed around the three starters of the fifth generation: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott; and each contained three cards. The nine total cards featured one from each type, and all the cards were holographic with artwork done by Ken Sugimori. However, when they were released in English, the collection added in three additional cards: Maractus, Alomomola, and Audino, for a total of twelve cards. There were also eight toys that came with one card each, based on Pikachu, Oshawott, Tepig, Snivy, Zorua, Zoroark, Zekrom, and Reshiram.
Trivia
In the Canadian province of Québec, the collection was only available in French, making it the only TCG collection in the province to be released as such (previous special promotional sets, such as the POP series and Battle Road promos, had been in English). This was despite the fact that the cards were not translated into other European languages and were not released in European countries (including France) at that point.
