Marshadow is first emerging from the shadow an {{p|Entei}} at watches {{Ash}}, {{OBP|Verity|M20}}, and [[Sorrel]] rest in a cave to avoid a rainstorm.
 
After his defeat at the hands of [[Cross]], Ash angrily lashes out at his friends and runs off to a forest to sulk. His frustration causes the Rainbow Wing to lose its color. Marshadow appears and uses its powers to put Ash to sleep, trapping him in a dream world where Pokémon do not exist and he goes to school instead of traveling. Though Ash does not remember what Pokémon are in this world, his bond with {{AP|Pikachu}} allows him to regain his memories and wake up. Startled by the experience, Ash apologizes to Pikachu for his earlier behavior, causing the Rainbow Wing to revert back to its normal state.

Upon arriving at the Raizen Mountains, Ash and his friends travel to [[Mount Tensei]] to meet with Ho-Oh. Shortly after arriving, the group is attacked by Cross, who challenges Ash to a battle for the Rainbow Wing. At this point, Marshadow fully reveals itself to everyone in order to observe the battle. When the battled ended in Ash's victory, Cross steals the Rainbow Wing and tries to summon Ho-Oh himself. Due to the wickedness in his heart, the Rainbow Wing immediately loses its color, causing the skies to turn black once Cross puts the wing on Rainbow Rock.
Marshadow is shown lurking in {{Ash}}'s shadow when no one is looking during moments of pride, first appearing when he boasts about being liked by {{an|Ho-Oh}} in the library and later when he disavows {{AP|Pikachu}} before his fantasy of a world without Pokémon. Eventually, it is calmed and defeated, allowing Ash to place the Rainbow Wing on the rock.

Marshadow (Japanese: マーシャドー Marshadow) is a major character in the movie, I Choose You!. Marshadow is said to be a guide from the shadows who leads those chosen by Ho-Oh to be the Rainbow Hero. History

Marshadow is first emerging from the shadow an Entei at watches Ash, Verity, and Sorrel rest in a cave to avoid a rainstorm.

After his defeat at the hands of Cross, Ash angrily lashes out at his friends and runs off to a forest to sulk. His frustration causes the Rainbow Wing to lose its color. Marshadow appears and uses its powers to put Ash to sleep, trapping him in a dream world where Pokémon do not exist and he goes to school instead of traveling.
