The Magnet Train is found in Johto and Kanto during the Gold, Silver and Crystal games. It runs between Goldenrod City and Saffron City twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. It allows rapid travel from one city to the next.
At first, the train isn't running. It turns out that a minion of Team Rocket has stolen a valuable part from the Power Plant in Kanto. After defeating him in Cerulean City, you can retrieve the part and the train will have the necessary power to run.
To board the train, you must have a Pass. To obtain one, take the Clefairy Doll in the Vermillion City Fan Club to the CopyCat Girl in Saffron. In exchange for returning it to her, she will hand over the Pass. You may now ride the train at anytime you wish.
