Magby (Japanese: ブビィ Buby) is a Template:Type2 Baby Pokémon.
It evolves into Magmar starting at level 30, which evolves into Magmortar when traded holding a Magmarizer.
Biology
Physiology
Magby has a red body, with a yellow, flame-shaped marking on its stomach, a single spike on its back and stubby arms, and a short red tail. Magby's head is covered with large lumps that resemble hair. Like its evolutions, Magby has a black, metal shackle on its neck.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Magby can breathe out 1100-degree Fahrenheit (600-degree Celsius) flames, and hot embers drip from its mouth. It is also able to shoot Smog from its mouth.
Behavior
A Magby's health is determined by the flames that it spews from its mouth. Yellow flames show that a Magby is in good health while a Magby that is spewing flames that are mixed with a lot of smoke show that it is fatigued. However, Magby is able to intentionally expel such obscuring smoke as to lower the accuracy of the opponent.
Habitat
Magby normally live in volcanic craters. However, there have been rare occasions of Magby being seen living in towns.

Trivia
- Magby has the lowest possible maximum Performance in any given stat of any Pokémon, only capable of reaching 3 stars in any of its five stats.
- Magby is the only Fire-type baby Pokémon.
Origin
Magby seems to be a combination of a booby or duck with a mythical salamander of fire. The spike on its back gives resemblance to a baby iguana.
Name origin
Magby's name is a combination of magma, intrusive molten rock, and baby. However, "Magby" can also be a corruption of the word "maybe".
Buby might be a combination of booby, a type of sea bird, and baby.
