It becomes very active on the night of a full moon. This Pokémon was first discovered 40 years ago at the site of a meteor strike.

Name origin

Lunatone's name is a combination of the Latin luna, meaning moon, and tone, meaning shade or light, referring to not only this Pokémon's appearance but also its affinity for moonlight. It could also be a combination of luna and stone, simply referring to a moon-shaped rock.

Lunatone first appeared in AG087. The PMC was after it due to wanting to get there hands on another outer-space Pokémon.
