Lunatone (Japanese: ルナトーン Lunatone) is a Rock/Psychic-type Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Gender differences

Lunatone is genderless.

Special abilities

Lunatone's ability, Levitate, allows it to avoid Ground-type moves such as Earthquake or Magnitude.

Behavior

Lunatone's power and health seems to be tied directly to the phases of the moon. When it is a full moon, Lunatone is at the peak of it's strength. Presumably when there is an absence of the moon, Lunatone is all but defenseless.

Habitat

Diet

In the anime

Lunatone first appeared in AG087. A pair of theives calling themselves the PMC was after it due to wanting to get their hands on another outer-space Pokémon.

Liza and her Lunatone debuted in AG099 along Tate and his Solrock. Ash Ketchum's Gym battle against Tate and Liza and their Meteorite Pokémon was in the following episode.

Pokémon Ruby
Lunatone was discovered at a location where a meteorite fell. As a result, some people theorize that this Pokémon came from space. However, no one has been able to prove this theory so far.
Pokémon Sapphire
Lunatone becomes active around the time of the full moon. Instead of walking, it moves by floating in midair. The Pokémon's intimidating red eyes cause all those who see it to become transfixed with fear.
Pokémon Emerald
It becomes very active on the night of a full moon. This Pokémon was first discovered 40 years ago at the site of a meteor strike.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

Trivia

Origin

Lunatone is obviously a rock shaped like a cresent moon.

Name origin

Lunatone's name is a combination of the Latin luna, meaning moon, and tone, meaning shade or light, referring to not only this Pokémon's appearance but also its affinity for moonlight. It could also be a combination of luna and stone, simply referring to a moon-shaped rock.
