In the anime

Ludicolo first appeared in Pokémon: Gotta Dance. It kept showing up out of nowhere whenever the Poké-Baton was activated.

A Mexican Pokémon trainer named Poncho had a Ludicolo in AG076.

Brock's Lombre evolved into Ludicolo in AG105. It is currently back at Pewter City Gym with Brock's siblings.

Ludicolo begins dancing as soon as it hears cheerful, festive music. This Pokémon is said to appear when it hears the singing of children on hiking outings.

Ludicolo is probably based on a bongo drummer.

Name origin

Ludicolo's name may be a combination of ridiculous, ludicrous, and loco, the Spanish word for crazy. Its Japanese name may be a combination of ルンルン runrun, happy or bouncy, and pappa, which may be the sound of a rapid drumbeat.
