If Kecleon is attacked while the player is within the shop, the music played still continues to be the shopping music. When items within the shop are stepped on, the player will still not immediately pick it up and a price tag is displayed, as if it can still be purchased, regardless of whether or not the Kecleon was defeated. Revision as of 07:11, 14 June 2017

This is a list of glitches that occur in spin-off Pokémon games.

In Pokémon Play It!

Bench glitch

It is not possible to put Pokémon on the Bench before the play starts. Instead, players must wait for their first turn to put Pokémon on the Bench. This was fixed in Pokémon Play It! Version 2.

Magmar Flamethrower glitch

No Energy card is discarded from Magmar when using the Flamethrower attack. This was fixed in Pokémon Play It! Version 2.

In Pokémon Puzzle League

CPU Garbage Block glitches

BoEANSprite.png This glitch is in need of research.
Reason: Do these glitches occur more often in the VC release?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

The CPU in the game is designed in a way that overlooks a Garbage Block entering the CPU's cursor. This can cause a variety of issues and glitches depending upon the board and the circumstances around how the Garbage Block entered the cursor.

CPU lock glitch

The CPU can occasionally lockup due to a Garbage Block falling into the CPU's cursor. During this particular issue, the cursor will stay on the Garbage Block or the edge of it and another block. Occasionally, the CPU may recover if more Garbage Blocks drop from the top of the field or if a new row of blocks is added to the bottom of the field.

Softlock glitch

The game can occasionally softlock due to the interaction between the CPU's cursor and Garbage Blocks. This will prevent the game from ending upon the blocks of one field staying at the top of the field for too long. A clear sign of this glitch occurring is when gravity no longer works on blocks.

Same character glitch

The game can be forced to use the same name by tricking it during the character select screen. Due to how the game tracks which character is selected through the player's name, the game will switch to the character picked by that player after the first match has concluded.

In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team

Dungeon shop glitch

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, by placing an item on the carpet and quicksaving the game, after the game is restarted Kecleon will continue to think that the item has been sold recently and will pay the sell price every time he is spoken to.

By MrAlbrave
This video is not available on Bulbapedia; instead, you can watch the video on YouTube here.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness

False thief glitch

In Explorers of Time and Darkness, if a wild Pokémon is knocked out on a Kecleon shop and drops an item, the item is picked up like usual, but this will be considered as stealing. Even talking to Kecleon before leaving the shop won't do anything, as it wasn't set as a Kecleon shop item.

Member join glitch

If the player completes a job with a reward listed as ???, it means that the player will either receive an Egg, the client will join the exploration team, or—in the case of Magnezone and Magnemite when Chansey already has an Egg—receive 1000 Poké. If one of these jobs is completed before the player can recruit new members, the game will half freeze after the text: "Thank you for rescuing <Pokémon>!" However, the background music will stay an infinite loop.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

Luminous Spring freeze glitch

In North American releases of the game, the game will freeze if the player attempts to evolve a Pokémon whose nickname consists of exactly ten characters, unless it was the last Pokémon obtained. The glitch was fixed in the European and Australian versions of the game.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams and Explorers of Time and Darkness

Aggressive Kecleon glitch

In Red and Blue Rescue Team, if a team member attacks Kecleon before any items are stolen (via explosion or Blast Seed), the Kecleon will proceed to become hostile and can be defeated. If Kecleon is attacked while the player is within the shop, the music played still continues to be the shopping music. When items within the shop are stepped on, the player will still not immediately pick it up and a price tag is displayed, as if it can still be purchased, regardless of whether or not the Kecleon was defeated. Regardless of whether or not any items are taken, once the player exits the shop, Kecleon will accuse the player of being a thief (even if the initial Kecleon is already defeated), causing the music to change and more Kecleon to spawn.

The glitch is still present in Explorers of Sky but the player will not be considered a thief unless they take an item after the shop Kecleon is defeated.

Kecleon team member glitch

A glitch in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness that allows the player to make Kecleon act as if it were part of the team without recruiting it. It is not present in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. It is not actually part of the team, only behaving as part of it, so it will not follow the team onto the next floor.

If Kecleon is attacked by a wild Pokémon, Kecleon will attack the Pokémon who attacked it.

Wild Pokémon will not usually attack Kecleon, but can be forced to by using a Pass Scarf to pass their attacks onto the Kecleon.

This video is not available on Bulbapedia; instead, you can watch the video on YouTube here.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

Defiant text oversight

A text glitch occurs when a Pokémon with the Ability Defiant has its stats lowered at the same time as a team member placed after it (such as from Growl). The message log will use the team member's name, instead of the name of the Pokémon with Defiant, when displaying "<Pokémon>'s Defiant Ability was activated!"

False thief glitch variant

If a defeated wild Pokémon drops an item onto a shop tile, exiting the shop will prompt Kecleon to ask whether the player would like to sell the item as if they set it down themselves. The player can pick up the item as if it was a regular dropped item (the Kecleon Shop item menu doesn't pop up), but leaving the shop with said item will be considered stealing and result in Kecleon attacking the team.

Mienfoo dialogue oversight

When playing as the partner Pokémon, after the player Pokémon has returned to the human world and has yet to return to the Pokémon world, the Mienfoo acquainted with the team will salute the partner Pokémon with a "Morning, <player's name>!" instead of "Morning, <partner's name>!", when spoken to in Post Town.

Serperior walk animation oversight

If the player chose Snivy as their partner and evolved them into a Serperior, the partner's walking animation will fail to loop correctly when walking slowly in an area outside a dungeon, such as the Paradise Center.

In the Pokémon Ranger series

In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia

Invisible wall glitch

050Diglett.png This section is incomplete.
Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it.
Reason: Needs a video or animation

In Vien Forest, the player can find spots where they will not be able to continue walking, even though there is nothing in their path due to the boundary of the trees.

In the Pokémon Rumble series

In Pokémon Rumble Blast

Ditto move glitch

050Diglett.png This section is incomplete.
Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it.
Reason: Needs a video or animation

If a Ditto copies a Ditto which copied a Ditto who copied one of the player's Toy Pokémon and the Ditto is toppled and recruited, the Ditto will have one of the moves of the Pokémon that was copied originally.

Noclip Pokémon spawn glitch

In 4-1, if a Pokémon uses one of the long ranged skills into the main hull of the Temple of Keys, it will tell that the player that they have just defeated a Toy Pokémon from the area. This can be easily explained by spawning zones. Some other building models also have this spawn effect.

In Pokémon Rumble World

Royal Competition glitch

In any Royal Competition, it is possible to knock out a wild Toy Pokémon just when the timer hits 0. While the wild Toy Pokémon's HP will be displayed as 0, it will remain standing.

If that Toy Pokémon is the last one remaining, the "CLEAR" message will be shown on-screen, but the game will show a "Times up!" message after and the stage will not be cleared.

Out of Bounds

It is possible to go out of bounds. If you call your Mii character to the grassy area on the left, you must go inside the Mii and have him/her carry you over the grass and hit up and then you are out of bounds. If you go too far to the East, you can enter the void. If you go too far into the West, you will enter the castle. If you go too far to the North, the camera goes back to the plaza and you enter the castle. Going South just takes you to the plaza. To end the glitch, you can go South or enter the castle.

Alternate Method

If you get your Mii character to go into the small patch of grass, go through your Mii and have him/her carry you. Once you're in the castle from the carrying, hit left or up and you're out of bounds.

In Pokémon Shuffle

Use any Pokémon glitch

This glitch can be performed as soon as the player gets the ability to select Support Pokémon by touching the Poké Ball icon. It allows the player to use any unregistered Support Pokémon from the Support Pokémon selection screen at level 1, and the Pokémon can be brought into a game. It will not be registered as caught.

Steps:

  1. Enter the Support Pokémon selection screen.
  2. Tap the search icon.
  3. Change "Caught Pokémon" to "All Pokémon".
  4. Tap "SEARCH".
  5. Drag and drop a Pokémon that was already selected as a Support Pokémon with any of the 158 different Pokémon to get it as a Support Pokémon.

If the player wants to remove the icon of a non-caught Support Pokémon, they can drag an existing Support Pokémon on to it to get the existing Support Pokémon in that slot. The player cannot move the icon of a non-caught Support Pokémon directly.

This glitch was patched in version 1.0.2.

Make a move before immediate Disruption

In any stage where the opponent starts out with a disruption countdown of 0, it is possible to drag a Pokémon on the board to make a match the first frame the word "START!" appears before the disruption completely triggers.

In Pokémon Picross

Area Map mistake

If the player unlocks an area with a higher number than a locked area with a path that connects to it, then the paths between the locked and unlocked areas will be colored gold as if both locations are unlocked in the area select screen of the Map-Screen Menu.

In Pokémon GO

Backpack freeze glitch

If a Pokémon escapes from a Poké Ball and flees while the player attempts to open up the Backpack, then the game will freeze.[1] In version 0.31.0, the battle screen was slightly reprogrammed, resulting in this glitch being fixed.

Egg Hatching glitch

BoEANSprite.png This glitch is in need of research.
Reason: Is there a reliable way to either trigger or avoid this glitch? Are the results somewhat random? Is there any footage or video of the glitch?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

An Egg can reach the requirements to hatch while in Pokémon GO, but fail to actually hatch through a combination of issues. Occasionally, the egg will fail to produce a Pokémon and disappear, though it is possible for the Pokémon to appear later on.[2][3][4][5]

Grimer glitch

BoEANSprite.png This glitch is in need of research.
Reason: Can it occur with an iPhone or similar Apple product?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

If a player using an Android phone encounters a Grimer or hatches a Grimer from an Egg, then the game will likely crash. This occurs in all released versions up to 0.31.0.[6]

Gym glitches

BoEANSprite.png This glitch is in need of research.
Reason: Is there more to this issue? Are these sub-glitches of each other?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

If a Pokémon reaches 1HP during a battle for a Gym, then the game may prevent that Pokémon from fainting in battle outside of using status conditions that do damage. This can lead to several issues such as losing the ability to switch Pokémon or being prevented from starting the battle.[7]

Egg Gym glitch

A player can select an empty Gym and choose to place an Egg in the Gym instead of a Pokémon. The Egg will appear in the Gym with 0 CP, no model, and be unable to be fought.[8]

Pokédex glitch

When clicking on a caught Pokémon in the Pokédex, the entry of the Pokémon may become distorted with the individual letters appearing down the side of the screen. Additionally, the game may revert to the entry for the first Pokémon available in the Pokédex. This glitch occurs in versions 0.29.0 to 0.29.3 and was fixed in 0.31.0.

Size Medal oversights

In version 0.29.0 of Pokémon GO, the Youngster and Fisherman Medals stated that the current progress toward the requirements for the medal would be "Caught {0} Rattata/Magikarp weighing at most {1}" for all medals respectively. The intended text refers to catching a number of the required that have a specific weight indicator for the Pokémon in question, with Rattata being XS for example.

In version 0.29.2, the medals were changed to read "Caught (number of XS/XL) Rattata/Magikarp." Version 0.29.3 fully fixed the text for both medals to instead read "Caught (number) tiny/big Rattata/Magikarp."

Shadow glitch

If a Poké Ball is used as soon as it is available, then it can disappear under the ground and produce a growing shadow over the area. Eventually, the game will crash due to this.[9][10] In version 0.31.0, the battle screen was slightly reprogrammed, resulting in this glitch being fixed.

Sound bugs

Occasionally, the game will suddenly stop playing music due to different issues. It can be caused by a notification on an Android device or an issue with getting data from the server.[11] It occurs in all released versions up to 0.31.0.

Three footprint glitch

Sometime after the version 0.29.2 update, the step counter for all nearby Pokémon would always be displayed with three footprints, even if the Pokémon is visible onscreen. This continued into the 0.29.3 version and was speculated to be a server-side modification.[12] In version 0.31.0, footprints were removed altogether.

Ditto background glitch

In some cases when catching a Pokémon, Ditto may appear on the screen along with the background when a Pokémon transforms into Ditto. This has happened in the 0.63.1 update and has not been fixed.[13]
