These Pokémon were distributed to players who inserted common serial codes that were revealed during the airing of SM001 on certain channels. They were distributed to promote the premier of the Sun & Moon series of the Pokémon anime in South Korea.
The serial code for Alolan Vulpix was revealed on Tooniverse at 5:00 pm on April 4, 2017, the serial code for Alolan Grimer was revealed on KBS KIDS at 6:40 pm on May 2, 2017, the serial code for Alolan Diglett was revealed on Animax Korea at 6:00 pm on May 2, 2017, and the serial code for Alolan Sandshrew was revealed on Daegyo Euolini TV at 5:00 pm on May 9, 2017. The common serial code for Alolan Vulpix was ALOLA, the common serial code for Alolan Grimer was RAIN8BOW8, the common serial code for Alolan Diglett was NOTHAIR, and the common serial code for Alolan Sandshrew was 2ALOLAFORM7.
