This is a list of all the key items that are found in Generation IV. Please note that some of these are also part of the list of key items in Generation II due to Pokémon Gold and Silver being remade, and several appear in multiple generations.

Some items are specific to a certain region, while others can be found in both Sinnoh and Johto/Kanto.

Description DPPt HGSS A fantastic medicine dispensed by the pharmacy in Cianwood City. It fully heals a Pokémon of any ailment.

Effect: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Best Rod of all.					Locations DPPt Received from a Fisherman in the Fight Area. HGSS Received from the Route 12's Fishing Guru.
Description DPPt HGSS An awesome, high-tech fishing rod. Use it by any body of water to fish for wild aquatic Pokémon.

Vs. Recorder バトルレコーダー Battle Recorder   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Allows the player to record and replay battles, and send them over Nintendo Wi-Fi.					Locations Pt Received from Looker in Jubilife City HGSS Received from Ethan/Lyra in the Route 31 lookout station.
Secondary effect: Stores information on the player's Battle Points and the rewards obtained from defeating Frontier Brains.
Description Pt HGSS An amazing device that can record a battle either between friends or at a special battle facility.

Key items exclusive to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum

Effect: Plays a melody that's beyond this world; opens the stairway to an Arceus in the Hall of Origin.					Locations DPPt Available only by Mystery Gift event.
Description DPPt A flute that puts out echoing sounds that do not seem to be of this world. It is unknown who made it.

Coupons 1, 2, and 3 ひきかえけん1・2・3 Vouchers 1, 2, and 3   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Coupons needed to obtain the Pokétch.					Locations DPPt Each of these is given out by a different clown in Jubilife City. They all have the same description, and function, but each has a different design on the ticket. They do not need to be collected in any specific order.
Description DPPt A coupon to be exchanged for a Pokémon Watch (Pokétch for short). Three coupons are needed.

Explorer Kit たんけんセット Exploration Set   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Used for going into the Sinnoh Underground.					Locations DPPt Given away by the Underground Man in his house in Eterna City.
Description DPPt A bag filled with convenient tools for exploring. It provides access to the Underground.

Effect: Opens the door to the Team Galactic HQ in Veilstone City.					Locations DPPt Found in the basement of Team Galactic HQ.
Description DPPt A card key for disengaging security systems in the Galactic HQ. Losing it can result in punishment, apparently.

Journal ぼうけんノート Adventure Notebook   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Records limited notes on daily gameplay. It is brought up automatically when returning to the game after 2 or more days have passed without making a new save.					Locations DPPt Given out by the player's mother in Twinleaf Town.
Description DPPt A notebook that keeps a day-to-day record of your adventure so far.

Lunar Wing みかづきのはね Crescent Moon Feather   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Used to cure the sailor's son's nightmares in Canalave City.					Locations DPPt Left behind on Fullmoon Island by Cresselia after it flees.
Description DPPt A feather that glows like the moon. It is said to possess the power to dispel nightmares.

Member Card メンバーズカード Member's Card   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: A 50-year old key for accessing the motel in Canalave City; allows access to battle a Darkrai.					Locations DPPt Available only by Mystery Gift event.
Description DPPt A card needed for entering the inn in Canalave City. Oddly, the last date marked on it was 50 years ago.

Oak's Letter オーキドのてがみ Ōkido's Letter   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: A letter from Professor Oak to be taken to Route 224; allows access to battle Shaymin.					Locations DPPt Available only by Mystery Gift event.
Description DPPt A letter from Prof. Oak. Written in it is a request for you to go to Rt. 224.

Old Charm こだいのおまもり Ancient Omamori   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Cynthia asks the player to deliver this to Celestic Town. It is made from Pokémon bones.					Locations DPPt Received from Cynthia on Route 210.
Description DPPt An ancient good-luck charm made of Pokémon bones to be taken to the elder of Celestic Town.

Parcel おとどけもの Parcel   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: A package to deliver to the rival. It contains two Town Maps, one for him, and one for the player.					Locations DPPt Received from the rival's mother in Twinleaf Town.
Description DPPt A parcel entrusted in your care. You are supposed to deliver it to your childhood friend who left Twinleaf Town.

Effect: Stores the Poffin that the player has made.					Locations DPPt Received from the Pokémon Fan Club President in Hearthome City.
Description DPPt A case for storing Poffin cooked from Berries in Hearthome City.

Effect: Locates hidden Pokémon in the grass; requires 50 steps to charge after use.					Locations DPPt Received from Professor Oak in Sandgem Town when the Sinnoh Pokédex has been completed.
Description DPPt A tool that can search out Pokémon that are hiding in grass. Its battery is recharged as you walk.

Effect: Opens up a secret room at the Galactic Eterna Building, containing five appliances necessary for a Rotom to change between its six forms.					Locations Pt Available only by Mystery Gift event.
Description Pt A high-tech key that has to be used at a specific location. It emits a special electric signal to open a door.

Sprayduck コダックじょうろ Koduck Watering Can   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Used to water planted Berries. If watering is done correctly, the resulting Berry trees will have higher amounts of Berries to pick and store.					Locations DPPt Received from one of the workers in the Pick a Peck of Colors Flower Shop.
Description DPPt A watering can shaped like a Psyduck. It helps promote healthy growth of Berries planted in soft soil.

Effect: Opens the door to the Team Galactic Warehouse.					Locations DPPt Dropped by a Galactic Grunt in Veilstone City (after you beat Jupiter at lake Acuity).

Description DPPt A key to one of the suites at the luxury hotel by a lake. For some odd reason, it often disappears.

Effect: Displays a map of Sinnoh and the player's current location. Details of routes and cities can be accessed by the touch screen.					Locations DPPt Contained in the Parcel. Will be shared with the player by the rival, as there are two.
Description DPPt A very convenient map that can be viewed anytime. It even shows your present location.

Vs. Seeker バトルサーチャー Battle Searcher   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN III		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Allows the player to challenge Pokémon Trainers more than once; requires 100 steps to recharge after use.					Locations DPPt Received from Rowan's assistant (Lucas or Dawn) on Route 207.
Description DPPt A device that indicates Trainers who want to battle. Its battery charges while you walk.

Works Key はつでんしょキー Powerplant Key   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN IV		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: The key for accessing the Valley Windworks.					Locations DPPt Dropped by Galactic Grunts; found by a man in the Floaroma Meadow.
Description DPPt A large key for operating the doors of the Valley Windworks in the canyon. It was held by a Team Galactic Grunt.

Key items exclusive to HeartGold and SoulSilver

Effect: Carries Apricorns and allows growth while traveling. Can hold up to 99 of each type of Apricorn.					Locations HGSS House closest to Cherrygrove City on Route 33.
Secondary effect: Contains the Apriblender after receieving it at the Pokéathlon.
Description HGSS A handy box where you can store up to 99 Apricorns of each kind.

Effect: Allows the player to access the basement of the Goldenrod Tunnel.					Locations HGSS During Team Rocket's raid on the Goldenrod Radio Tower; taken from Petrel after defeating him.
Description HGSS A key that opens a door in the Goldenrod Tunnel.
