Light Screen (Japanese: ひかりのかべ Light Wall) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Light Screen doubles the user's Special when the opponent damages the user with a special move.

Light Screen will fail if the user is already under its effect. The effect of Light Screen is ignored by critical hits. If Light Screen causes the user's special to reach 1024 or higher at any time during battle calculations, it will be reduced mod 1024.

Generation II and on

Light Screen will be in effect for 5 turns and will halve damage taken from special moves. Light Screen will disappear after 5 turns or when the opponent uses Brick Break or Shadow Shed in Pokémon XD.

Generation IV

A new held item, Light Clay, will extend the duration of Light Screen as well as the similar move Reflect when held by the Pokémon using it by three turns.

In the anime

Pokémon

Alakazam. Alakazam's eyes glow yellow. A yellow box then forms around it.
