Release information

This card originated in the EX Hidden Legends expansion with artwork by Ryo Ueda. It was later reprinted in the EX FireRed & LeafGreen set with a slight change in the text. The card was reprinted again in the Platinum expansion with new artwork by the same artist. This print removed the "(excluding Pokémon-ex)" clause from the effect, widening the range of Pokémon the card can be attached to. It was reprinted in the Unleashed expansion with new artwork by Hideaki Hakozaki. The Japanese release of this print was reclassified as a Goods card, but the English did not adopt this name and continued classifying it as a Trainer card.

Trivia

Life Herb is the first Trainer card to appear in two consecutive English-language sets, and would remain the only one until Bebe's Search and Night Maintenance appeared consecutively in Mysterious Treasures and Secret Wonders.

Origin

This card is based on a Revival Herb, a herbal medicine in the Pokémon games that revives a fainted Pokémon to full HP.
