Release information

This card was included in the EX Hidden Legends expansion with artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in the Japanese Undone Seal expansion. It was later reprinted in the EX FireRed & LeafGreen expansion, as well as the Japanese Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise Random Constructed Starter Decks, Metagross Constructed Starter Deck, and Gift Box Emerald. It was reprinted again in the Platinum expansion with new artwork by the same artist, first released in Japanese Entry Pack DPt.

Life Herb was reclassified in Japan as an Item card during the HeartGold & SoulSilver Series, though the English Trainer cards did not adopt this naming convention until after this card's latest print. The Unleashed expansion and the Torterra Starter Deck of the Japanese Battle Starter Decks featured new artwork by Hideaki Hakozaki. It was reprinted in the Japanese Champion Road subset with the artwork by Ryo Ueda originally printed in the EX Hidden Legends expansion. A Full Art Secret print was also released in the Japanese Champion Road subset and features artwork by Ryo Ueda.

Trivia

Life Herb is the first Trainer card to appear in two consecutive English-language sets, and would remain the only one until Bebe's Search and Night Maintenance appeared consecutively in Mysterious Treasures and Secret Wonders.

Origin

This card is based on a Revival Herb, a type of herbal medicine in the Pokémon games that revives a fainted Pokémon to full HP.
