Liepard is a slender, purple feline Pokémon speckled with yellow rosettes. Its fur patterning is considered attractive to many {{pkmn|Trainer}}s. It has a pink "mask" marking over its eyes, a pink nose, and small yellow markings over its green eyes. It has two pairs of long yellow whiskers, and a tufted yellow underside. Its lower legs are yellow, and each small paw has a pale pink pad that can be seen in [[Pokédex 3D Pro]]. It has a long, curving tail with a sickle-like shape toward the tip. Liepard has well-developed muscles that allows it to run silently and strike opponents from behind. It has also been known to vanish and reappear without warning.

* Liepard shares its category with {{rf|Galarian}} {{p|Articuno}}. They are both known as the Cruel Pokémon.

===Origin===
===Origin===
Liepard has traits of housecats and {{wp|leopard}}s. It could also draw inspiration from spotted wildcats like the {{wp|leopard cat}}, {{wp|ocelot}}, and {{wp|serval}}. It may also be based on a {{wp|Savannah cat}}, a hybrid between a domestic cat and a serval. It also slightly resembles a {{wp|black panther}}, because of its dark coloration and the fact that spots on a panther's coat can be seen if examined closely.

Liepard (Japanese: レパルダス Lepardas) is a Dark-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Purrloin starting at level 20.

Biology

Liepard is a slender, purple feline Pokémon speckled with yellow rosettes. Its fur patterning is considered attractive to many Trainers. It has a pink "mask" marking over its eyes, a pink nose, and small yellow markings over its green eyes. It has two pairs of long yellow whiskers and a tufted yellow underside. Its lower legs are yellow, and each small paw has a pale pink pad that can be seen in Pokédex 3D Pro. It has a long, curving tail with a sickle-like shape toward the tip.

Liepard has well-developed muscles that allows it to run silently and strike opponents from behind. It has also been known to vanish and reappear without warning. It is known to be rather moody and vicious. In Galar, it competes with Thievul for territory.

Evolution

Liepard evolves from Purrloin.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Photodex entry #053
Liepard dashes through the jungle with sinewy grace without making a sound. But it’s a fickle Pokémon and usually spends more of its time just loafing around.

Trivia

  • Liepard is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 446.
  • Liepard shares its category with Galarian Articuno. They are both known as the Cruel Pokémon.

Origin

Liepard has traits of housecats and leopards. It could also draw inspiration from spotted wildcats like the leopard cat, ocelot, and serval. It may also be based on a Savannah cat, a hybrid between a domestic cat and a serval. It also slightly resembles a black leopard, because of its dark coloration and the fact that it has spots which can be seen if examined closely. Its fur pattern around its eyes, behavior, and feline influence suggests that it may also be based on a female thief, commonly known as a cat burglar.

Name origin

Liepard may be a combination of lie and leopard.

Lepardas may be a combination of leopard and λεόπαρδος leopardós (Ancient Greek for leopard) or leopardus (Latin for leopard).
