Predominant type: Flying

Friend Area

Legendary Island (Japanese: 伝説孤島 Legendary Solitary Island) is a Friend Area in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team and a rescue team camp in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX in the Northern Isles area. In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, it has a capacity of 3 Pokémon. The only Pokémon that reside here are the legendary birds.

It is unlocked automatically when Articuno, Zapdos, or Moltres is recruited.

This island seems to be a reference to the three islands from the The Power of One: Fire Island, Ice Island, and Lightning Island.

Vortex Stone

After recruiting Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres as well as clearing Pitfall Valley and Stormy Sea, Alakazam will recommend speaking to them in their Friend Area, Legendary Island. When visiting them here, they will create the Vortex Stone RTRB.png Vortex Stone (Japanese: 渦潮 Whirlpool Stone), which gives the player access to Silver Trench, where the player encounters Lugia.

The Vortex Stone does not show up in the team toolbox.

Geography

Legendary Island is split into three smaller islands representing Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. All three islands are connected by a bridge. Moltres's island is represented with a volcano, Articuno's with a mountain covered with snow, and Zapdos's with a simple field. Each island has what appears to be a small temple on it, which are very similar to those used to store the spheres in The Power of One.
