Koya (Japanese: コウヤ Kōya) is a character in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure.

Koya isn't very friendly, especially to people like Jun. He told him to quit being a Trainer as Jun lost to him.

Koya was shown in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure! volume 6, while Mitsumi and Cynthia were battling, the front seats were emptied, so Hareta went to them. He met Koya and his Pokémon Absol. Hareta tried to pet Absol and ended up getting a punch from Koya. They were about to battle in the stands until Mitsumi stopped them.

Later on, Koya tried to discourage Jun and Hareta in training Pokémon while they were both battling. Koya had a flashback, when he was optimistic trainer and partnered with his Growlithe. His Growlithe lost his courageous soul when he was defeated by a trainer with a Gyarados, and because of that, he is a serious trainer now. He helped defeat Neo Team Galactic.

Koya is a member of the International Police, working with Hansom on the trail of Kaisei.

Pokémon

This listing is of Koya's known Pokémon:

Growlithe
Growlithe first appeared in a flashback. At first, Kouya did not care about winning or losing, until Growlithe was brutally defeated by a Gyarados which changed Kouya's attitude of battling forever. Another Growlithe appeared and reminded him of the same incident that happened with the Gyarados. Kouya then reveals that he left his Growlithe in the Pokémon Center before becoming a member of the police force. He somehow got it back after the Neo Team Galactic situation was over.
Debut Hearts and Spirits Collide
Absol
Before the match between Hareta and Koya, Hareta decides to pet his Absol. Koya then demands him not to. Absol may be Koya's main Pokémon as it was the only Pokémon (other than Growlithe) that was used outside of the Pokémon League and was used more often.

In Hareta's Heart's Desire, Absol was used against Jun's Pokémon including his Torterra. It was able to defeat Jun's Pokémon without any problems.

It was used again when Hareta's Luxio was out on the field. It almost defeated Luxio when it was covered in the rubble completely from Absol's attack. Doing so resulted in Luxio evolving into Luxray. It then defeated Absol.

Absol's only known move seen is Sucker Punch, Detect, Iron Tail.

Debut A New Battle Begins!
Metagross
Metagross first appeared along with Absol prior to Jun's battle with Koya. It was only seen battling Hareta's Regigigas and lost. It

was used then to protect everyone from the bomb with Light Screen.

Metagross's only known move is Meteor Mash, Iron Defense, Hammer ArmEarthquake, Light Screen.

Debut A New Battle Begins!
Mamoswine
Mamoswine was used in the battle against Hareta. It was proven to be very powerful as it took out Hareta's Regigigas in one hit despite Regigigas being a legendary Pokémon.

It was then used against Hareta's Empoleon after Koya's Metagross got defeated by his Regigigas. Mamoswine used its speed to try to get the best of Empoleon using its Snow Cloak ability after using Hail. However, this wasn't enough as Hareta's quick planning took advantage of Mamoswine.

Mamoswine's known moves are Hail and Take Down, and its ability is Snow Cloak.

Debut Hearts and Spirits Collide
