In the anime

Kingler first appeared in EP042 as one of the Kaz Gym's Pokémon.

Kingler's first major role was in EP063, under the ownership of Giovanni. He used it in his Gym battle against Gary's Nidoking/Arcanine. Despite the type disadvantage, Giovanni's Kingler was defeated by Gary's Arcanine. Giovanni had loaned his Kingler to Jessie, James and Meowth when he put them in charge of the Viridian Gym while he was out.

Ash's Krabby evolved into a Kingler in EP075 during Ash's first round battle in the Indigo League.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Red and Blue / Pokémon LeafGreen
The large pincer has 10,000-horsepower crushing force. However, its huge size makes it unwieldly to use.
Pokémon Yellow
One claw grew massively and as hard as steel. It has 10,000-HP strength. However, it is too heavy.
Pokémon Gold
It can hardly lift its massive, overgrown pincer. The pincer's size makes it difficult to aim properly.
Pokémon Silver
Its pincers grow peculiarly large. If it lifts the pincers too fast, it loses its balance and staggers.
Pokémon Crystal
Its oversized claw is very powerful, but when it's not in battle, the claw just gets in the way.
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire
Kingler has an enormous, oversized claw. It waves this huge claw in the air to communicate with others. However, because the claw is so heavy, the Pokémon quickly tires.
Pokémon Emerald
It waves its huge, oversized claw in the air to communicate with others. But since the claw is so heavy, this Pokémon quickly tires.
Pokémon FireRed
Its large and hard pincer has 10,000-horsepower strength. However, being so big, it is unwieldy to move.
