Kiawe's grandfather is a recurring character who first appeared in a flashback in Young Kiawe Had a Farm!. He was an Island Kahuna.
He was mentioned in A Shivering Shovel Search!, where Kiawe told Ash that his grandfather used to warn him about lone shovels on the beach, as they could belong to Sandygast.
He appeared in SM034, where he hosted a festival on Akala Island, where Trainer's get their Pokémon to wear the (Japanese ヴェラの冠 Crown of Wela).

Given away
Charizard originally belonged to Kiawe's grandfather. At some point prior to the start of the series it was given to Kiawe. It serves as his personal Poké Ride, which he uses to make deliveries around Alola's islands.
Charizard's only known move is Flamethrower. | ||
