Kiawe's grandfather is a recurring character who appeared in the Pokémon anime. He was an island kahuna of Akala Island and Olivia's immediate predecessor.

Kiawe's grandfather debuted in a flashback in Young Kiawe Had a Farm!, where Kiawe explained that his grandfather was his inspiration to become a Fire-type Trainer.

He was mentioned in A Shivering Shovel Search!, where Kiawe told Ash that his grandfather used to warn him about lone shovels on the beach, as they could belong to Sandygast.
