Release information

This card was released in the English Base Set, first originating from the Japanese Expansion Pack. It was reprinted in the English Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection expansions.

Trivia

  • Early prints of the card mistakenly list the weight as length.
  • Although PoisonPowder uses CamelCase in the games, it uses normal case on this card. This is likely because the card was released when the games used all-caps for the names of moves.
  • While the card's Pokédex entry states that Kakuna can only protect itself by hardening its shell, the card also, ironically, features an offensive ability.

Origin

PoisonPowder is a move in the games, but Kakuna cannot learn it. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, whereas the Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
