Kōichi Yamadera

Kōichi Yamadera (Japanese: 山寺宏一 Yamadera Kōichi) is a Japanese seiyū who provides the voices of main and/or supporting characters in all of the Pokémon movies.

Biography

Yamadera was born on June 17, 1961 in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. In 1994, he was married to fellow seiyū かないみか Mika Kanai, who also provides voices on Pokémon; the two divorced in 2006. On June 17, 2012, he married another fellow seiyū, Rie Tanaka, but divorced once again in August 4, 2018.

In addition to being a popular seiyū, Yamadera also hosts a children's series, Oha Suta, and he has had several live-action roles, including some in recent Godzilla movies. He also provides dub voices for various Walt Disney roles, such as Donald Duck, Genie, Beast, and Stitch.

Yamadera has had a main or supporting role in every one of the Pokémon movies. He has voiced only two characters in the main series and another one in a special episode thus far.
