When the player first meets Jasmine, she will refuse to battle, as she is busy caring for Amphy. She requests that a special medicine be brought from the Cianwood City pharmacy. When it is retrieved, she uses it to heal the Ampharos and returns to the Gym afterwards. In battle, she uses the newly-discovered Steel Pokémon, but a Gentleman in the Lighthouse says she used to train Rock Pokémon such as Onix. Once defeated, she will yield the Mineral and 23.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Jasmine can be fought multiple times in Saffron City's Fighting Dojo. She will use a stronger team here but will not appear until her Pokégear phone number has been obtained at the Olivine City diner. She goes there every afternoon, between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, and will afterwards travel to Kanto for battles on Wednesday afternoons. After defeating all of the Kanto Gym Leaders, visiting Jasmine at her Gym in Olivine will cause her to offer to make a trade with the player, although the player will need to talk to Jasmine a second time because she will be nervous about it. She offers a Steelix nicknamed Rusty that holds a Soothe Bell. She will accept any Pokémon in exchange, being the first in-game trade where this is possible. Rusty isn't the same as her battling Steelix, as Rusty is male whereas the other is female.

In Diamond, Jasmine is staying in Sunyshore City for a while, which she says reminds her of home with its lighthouse and its location on the sea. She also occasionally enters Master Rank Super Contests with her Steelix, which is nicknamed Rusty. She gives the player 07 after defeating the eighth Gym Leader, Volkner. A conversation with Erika in HeartGold and SoulSilver places Jasmine's appearance in Sinnoh after the main plot of the Johto games.
In Diamond, and their respective remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Jasmine is staying in Sunyshore City for a while, which she says reminds her of home with its lighthouse and its location on the sea. She also occasionally enters Master Rank Super Contests with her Steelix, nicknamed Rusty. She gives the player HM07/TM99 (Waterfall) after defeating the eighth Gym Leader, Volkner. A conversation with Erika in HeartGold and SoulSilver would seem to suggest Jasmine's appearance in Sinnoh occurs after the plot of the Johto games.

Jasmine also appears in Pokémon Stadium 2's Johto Gym Leader Castle. This is the only game where she uses Pokémon outside her specialty type of Steel. She also uses a notable amount of Water Pokémon, likely to counter Steel-type's weakness to Fire- and Ground moves.

Jasmine debuted in Fight for the Light!, where she interrupted Ash's Gym battle because her apprentice Janina was pretending to be the official Gym Leader. Jasmine went on to dismiss Janina for impersonating her and also covering her Onix in wax to repel normally effective Water attacks. Ash and ashfr later visited the Shining Lighthouse and met up with Jasmine, her grandfather Myron, and her Ampharos, nicknamed Sparkle. Later, Jasmine and the others fled the lighthouse after James had his James smother them with its thick Smog. TRT then kidnapped Sparkle, and incidentally Brock, though Janina and her Onix managed to rescue the pair, after which Ash sent the trio blasting off. After seeing Janina's heroism, Jasmine sent her young apprentice along with Ash and his friends to collect some medicine for Sparkle from Cianwood City.

In Machoke, Machoke Man!, Ash and the others arrived in Cianwood, and Janina then took an express service back to Olivine City to deliver the medicine. Janina later called Ash to inform him that Jasmine was still not up to battling because of her concerns for Sparkle. Following Chuck's suggestion, the group took a detour through the Whirl Islands and later returned to Olivine City in Throwing in the Noctowl for Ash's match.

Jasmine and her Jasmine helped Ash recover his Pikachu from Team Rocket before sending them blasting off in Nerves of Steelix!. Ash and Jasmine later had their Gym battle. Though Pikachu defeated Jasmine's Magnemite in the first round, he was left exhausted and was later defeated by Steelix. In the final round, Cyndaquil faced off against Steelix. The round proved to be difficult for both sides, but Cyndaquil eventually claimed victory after it used Flamethrower to transform Steelix's Sandstorm attack into a powerful fire whirl. Jasmine subsequently gave Ash his sixth Badge, the Mineral.

Jasmine joined Ash and his friends back at the Pokémon Center, where she told Dawn about her fears about being a Gym Leader and explained that it was important for a person to follow their own path. The following day, Jasmine announced that while she enjoyed her journey, she would return to her position as the Olivine Gym Leader to continue her training.

Character
Jasmine is typically gentle and soft-spoken, though in battle, she is markedly more confident and somewhat aggressive, making this a notable departure from her in-game personality. In Nerves of Steelix!, she was not afraid to take on TRT and was quite vocal in letting Ash know that she wouldn't go easy on him during battle. Jasmine holds herself to account in her role as Olivine City's Gym Leader and also expects these standards to be upheld by her apprentices. She is, however, very mindful of her limitations and will seek time away from her Gym Leader duties to collect herself.

In both cases, she was reliant on Steelix's Iron Tail and Sandstorm. She, however, hopes to implement changes like adding offensive techniques to improve her skills as Gym Leader.

Jasmine debuted in Gligar Glide, being called by the Day-Care Man. She was told to come over, as the Egg her two Togetic produced hatched into Gold's Togepi, Togebo. As she passed through Ecruteak City on her way there, an earthquake caused by Team Rocket ravaged the area. She managed to escape most of the chaos by escaping to the Bell Tower, but the shaking caused her to get caught in rubble. Using Amphy as a distress signal, she caught the attention of both Gold and Silver, who arrived to help. They managed to rescue her before the tower collapsed and sent Jasmine off to safety on Amphy's back. Unaware of the identities of her saviors, Jasmine helped with getting Ecruteak City back to normal.

As she passed through Ecruteak City on her way there, an earthquake caused by Team Rocket ravaged the area. She managed to escape most of the chaos by escaping to the Bell Tower, but the shaking caused her to get caught in the rubble.

At the Indigo Plateau, Jasmine arrives with her fellow Johto Gym Leaders to participate in an exhibition tournament for the Pokémon League against the Kanto Gym Leaders. In the first round, she faces off against the Pewter City Gym Leader, Brock. She surprises everyone by using Steelix, a new Pokémon that no one had known about. Since he knew nothing about Steelix or even its type, Brock is eventually defeated. Professor Oak reveals to everyone the discovery of the new Steel, in which Jasmine specializes. When the Masked Man attacks the Pokémon League, Jasmine and the other Gym Leaders combat his army of mind-controlled Team Rocket Grunts. The fight takes them to the Magnet Train, which is used as a diversion to get the Gym Leaders away from the stadium. After the Masked Man is defeated, Jasmine returned to her usual duties as a Gym Leader.
In Delibird Delivery - 1, Jasmine appeared in Professor Elm's fantasy when informing Gold that the Masked Man may be a Gym Leader.

Diamond & Pearl
Jasmine was seen again in Buzz Off, Butterfree!, where she supervised the rebuilding of the Tin Tower in Morty's absence. She soon met Yellow and Wilton, where Yellow was able to put out a fire at the Burned Tower and free the Legendary beasts that were imprisoned inside.
In Perturbed by Pachirisu, Jasmine makes a cameo appearance. She is seen together with Fantina, on their way to the Master Rank Super Contest in Hearthome City.

Jasmine (Japanese: ミカン Mikan) is the Gym Leader of Olivine City's Gym, known officially as the Olivine Gym. She specializes in Steel-type Pokémon, and she gives the Mineral Badge to Trainers who defeat her in battle. She also appears in Sinnoh to give Trainers HM07 (Waterfall) and to compete in Sinnoh's Super Contests.

In the core series games

Jasmine appears in Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver as the Gym Leader of the Olivine Gym. Her title in these games is "The Steel-Clad Defense Girl." She also appears in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, and their remakes.

Jasmine is a shy girl who has trouble speaking. She is compassionate, and when Amphy, the Ampharos in the Olivine Lighthouse, falls ill, Jasmine looks after it. Amphy will only take the medicine the player brings from Jasmine.

When the player first meets Jasmine, she will refuse to battle, as she is busy caring for Amphy. She requests that a special medicine be brought from the Cianwood City pharmacy. When it is retrieved, she uses it to heal the Ampharos and returns to the Gym afterwards. In battle, she uses the newly-discovered Steel-type Pokémon, but a Gentleman in the Lighthouse says she used to train Rock-type Pokémon such as Onix. Once defeated, she will yield the Mineral Badge and TM23 (Iron Tail).

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Jasmine can be fought multiple times in Saffron City's Fighting Dojo. She will use a stronger team here but will not appear until her Pokégear phone number has been obtained at the Olivine City diner. She goes there every afternoon, between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, and will afterwards travel to Kanto for battles on Wednesday afternoons. After exchanging numbers at the diner, visiting Jasmine at her Gym in Olivine will cause her to offer to make a trade with the player, although the player will need to talk to Jasmine a second time because she will be nervous about it. She offers a Steelix nicknamed Rusty that holds a Soothe Bell. She will accept any Pokémon in exchange, being the first in-game trade where this is possible. Rusty isn't the same as her battling Steelix, as Rusty is male whereas the other is female.

Jasmine in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum

In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, and their respective remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Jasmine is staying in Sunyshore City for a while, which she says reminds her of home with its lighthouse and its location on the sea. She also occasionally enters Master Rank Super Contests with her Steelix, nicknamed Rusty. She gives the player HM07DPPt/TM99BDSP (Waterfall) after defeating the eighth Gym Leader, Volkner. A conversation with Erika in HeartGold and SoulSilver would seem to suggest Jasmine's appearance in Sinnoh occurs after the plot of the Johto games.

History

Original series
Jasmine in the original series

Jasmine debuted in Fight for the Light!, where she interrupted Ash's Gym battle because her apprentice Janina was pretending to be the official Gym Leader. Jasmine went on to dismiss Janina for impersonating her and also covering her Onix in wax to repel normally effective Water attacks. Jasmine apologized to Ash on Janina's behalf and added that she would battle him when her Ampharos was feeling better.

Ash and his friends later visited the Shining Lighthouse and met up with Jasmine, her grandfather Myron, and her Ampharos, nicknamed Sparkle. Later, Jasmine and the others fled the lighthouse after James had his Weezing smother them with its thick Smog. Team Rocket kidnapped Sparkle, and incidentally Brock, though Janina and her Onix managed to rescue the pair, after which Ash sent the trio blasting off. After seeing Janina's heroism, Jasmine sent her young apprentice along with Ash and his friends to collect some medicine for Sparkle from Cianwood City.

In Machoke, Machoke Man!, Ash and the others arrived in Cianwood, and Janina took an express service back to Olivine City to deliver the medicine. Janina later called Ash to inform him that Jasmine was still not up to battling because she was concerned for Sparkle. Following Chuck's suggestion, the group took a detour through the Whirl Islands and later returned to Olivine City in Throwing in the Noctowl for Ash's match.

Jasmine and her Steelix helped Ash recover his Pikachu from Team Rocket before sending them blasting off in Nerves of Steelix!. Jasmine subsequently gave Ash his sixth Badge, the Mineral Badge.

She later reappeared in a flashback in Why? Wynaut!.

Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl

After a long absence, Jasmine reappeared in Sunyshore City, wearing her Generation IV outfit, in Four Roads Diverged in a Pokémon Port!. Ash and his friends were surprised to see her again as she watched Kenny practice some of his Contest combinations. Jasmine explained that she was traveling around and studying Contest Battles to become stronger. After Flint rescued the group from Team Rocket, Jasmine asked him for a battle and he accepted. Jasmine's battle style hadn't changed much, however, and Flint's Infernape knocked out her Steelix with a Flare Blitz.

In Nerves of Steelix!, she was not afraid to take on Team Rocket and was quite vocal in letting Ash know that she wouldn't go easy on him during battle. Jasmine holds herself to account in her role as Olivine City's Gym Leader and also expects these standards to be upheld by her apprentices. She is, however, very mindful of her limitations and will seek time away from her Gym Leader duties to collect herself.

Her battle strategy is simply to attack her opponent's Pokémon. Jasmine's handling of Steelix in Four Roads Diverged in a Pokémon Port! was much the same as her strategy during her battle against Ash in Nerves of Steelix!. In both cases, she was reliant on Steelix's Iron Tail and Sandstorm. She, however, hopes to implement changes like adding offensive techniques to improve her skills as Gym Leader.

History

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

Jasmine debuted in Gligar Glide, being called by the Day-Care Man. She was told to come over, as the Egg her two Togetic produced hatched into Gold's Togepi, Togebo. As she passed through Ecruteak City on her way there, an earthquake caused by Team Rocket ravaged the area. She managed to escape most of the chaos by escaping to the Bell Tower, but the shaking caused her to get caught in the rubble.

In Delibird Delivery - 1, Jasmine appeared in Professor Elm's fantasy when informing Gold that the Masked Man may be a Gym Leader.

Professor Oak reveals to everyone the discovery of the new Steel-type, in which Jasmine specializes.

HeartGold & SoulSilver arc

It is revealed that Jasmine left to the Sinnoh region so that she may partake in Pokémon Contests and refuses to come back until she had mastered them.

Diamond & Pearl arc

In Perturbed by Pachirisu, Jasmine makes a cameo appearance. She is seen together with Fantina, on their way to the Master Rank Super Contest in Hearthome City.

Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys

Jasmine in Pokémon Gold and Silver: The Golden Boys
Jasmine when she was younger

Jasmine first appeared in A Spectacular Battle To Save Ampharos where she wanted Gold to lend her his Croconaw. She wanted his Croconaw because she needed to get to Cianwood City to get medicine to cure her Ampharos's sickness. Jasmine, Gold, and Chris went around Olivine City to find a big Water-type Pokémon. They had no luck though. She found a Gyarados fighting a Wartortle in the middle of a busy street.

Even though it belonged to Black, Gold wanted to borrow it and they had a battle. Black chose Gyarados as the Pokémon to battle with against Gold's Pikachu. Jasmine tried convincing Black to not use Gyarados but Black retorted by saying that nothing is fair in a real battle. When Pikachu stood no chance against Gyarados, Jasmine took Gold's place. Using her Steelix, it finished Gyarados with one Iron Tail. As Gyarados got defeated, the group was unable to use it.

The town volunteered to build a raft for the group to use while the captain provided a map for them to go to Cianwood City. As they got on, it was unable to carry them as it can only carry two people. Jasmine decided to go there by herself but Gold and Chris were willing to go there instead. Jasmine stayed behind to look after Amphy while Gold and Chris went on to Cianwood City.

Gold and Chris got the medicine. They went to the messenger Pidgey shop to send the medicine to Jasmine.

Later, Jasmine and the citizens of Olivine City came to Gold's rescue while the Black Tyranitar was on a rampage.
