It Takes Two is a song that was used in a commercial to help promote Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, and Double Battles featured in the games. It was performed by Veronica Taylor and Rachael Lillis as Ash and Misty.

The song is a reworded Pokémon version of the hit 1966 single It Takes Two, originally performed by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston. The song lasts 3 minutes and 6 seconds and currently has not been featured on any offically released soundtracks from Nintendo.

Lyrics

Misty: One can have a dream, baby,
Ash: Two can make that dream come true.
Misty: One can talk about winning,
Ash: Two can help you battle through.

Misty: One Pokémon can take you halfway,
Ash: Two can help you win the game, yeah.
Misty: One will surely help you avoid disaster,
Ash: Two will bring you Pokémon fame.

Both: It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
Me and you.
Just takes two.

It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
To make a dream come true.
Just takes two.

Misty: One can easily be over when sibling[s] all top the feat,
Ash: Two can work together, baby, definitely can't be beat.
Misty: One can try [to be] only one but often times must succumb,
Ash: Two can look the challenge in the eye and together they can overcome.

Both: It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
Me and you.
Just takes two.

It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
To make a dream come true.
Just takes two.

[instrumental]

Just takes two.
Just takes two.

Misty: One can play Pokémon Ruby and have fun along the way,
Ash: Two can link up together and battle anywhere all day.
Misty: One can get better at Pokémon Sapphire practicing to be number one,
Ash: But two that play a lot together will surely have twice the fun.

Both: It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
Me and you.
Just takes two.

It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
To make a dream come true.
Just takes two.
