In Generation IV, Reporters and Cameramen can be battled alone, while in Generations III and VIII, they appear only in pairs as Interviewers.

In Hoenn-based games, "Interviewer" specifically refers to Gabby and Ty, who can be battled on Routes 111, 118, and 120. In Sinnoh-based games, it specifically refers to Roxy and Oli, who can be battled in Jubilife TV headquarters in Diamond and Pearl and various Pokémon Centers around Sinnoh in Platinum.

Gabby and Ty debuted in Creeping Past Cacnea, interviewing Norman after a victorious battle. They would go on to play a notable roles in the Ruby & Sapphire and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arcs.

In Luring in a Lickilicky, a pair of Interviewers was seen in a flashback, when the Pokétch Co. President told Diamond that he saw a TV crew covering Lake Valor.

  • In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Versions, after Gabby and Ty are defeated, Gabby will ask the player to sum up the battle in a single word. This later shows up on TV, as part of a report broadcast region-wide. In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the player inputs text manually. The text inputted will be broadcast on the BuzzNav.
